The fun part of this is watching an emotionally healthy couple in marriage and in love! Thanks for the real life lab ❤

Dr. Cloud, how do you deal with her disarming smile and laugh? You sir, are outgunned there. God bless ! I don't know how this is possible, but you've BOTH "married up". I wish you 50 more happy and healthy years, surrounded by that love you share.

I so relate to the “I would be so great on an island by myself like John. I grew up alone from age 7, so I had to create defense mechanisms for protection. So very independent and relationships are hard for me! It takes intentional focus. And I’m the founder of a ministry that works with people! HA! God is so good! He is not a co dependent, enabling Father! He pushes us out into the things that are hard for us, because He is a goooood gooood Father

What do you fo about it when you have been broken tbrough an abusive church environment? How do you have a functional relationship with God and others? How do you trust again in a church community when it hasn't been a safe place before?
@Amy.Ай бұрын
I’m sorry for your painful experience. It’s common too. 😢 Consider a church that has a Celebrate Recovery ministry and attend a couple meetings. They have explicit rules about confidentiality, nonjudgmental attitude…that build a supportive community. It’s okay if the meetings become your church until you get to a place where you can discern the healthy folks in a church that you can build (takes time) relationships with. 💛

In pursuit of protection, I controlled my kids too much too long- if I could do it again, I'd let the "leash" out further sooner in prep for their adulthood. Obviously there is a big difference with 13 yr old and a 16 yr old. But I did way better with last kid with placing gen guide lines and let him take responsibility for his time, chores, school, wrk etc. He did great... college brain washed him, wish there was a detox for that but it is what it is and He will have to work thru all that as an independent adult. I am more an inercessory prayer parent now. And- I enjoy empty nesting too. Lol.

Self awareness is number one for me and unfortunately that is almost impossible to find. I’ve given up totally on finding anyone anymore. No one I meet is introspective whatsoever. Friends also. It’s pathetic .

at 18 minutes- safety is an invitation, not coercion, not "kidnapped for another's need", Jesus stands at the door and knocks! Open the door and receive Him and share the "meal". The bread of Life is Jesus, Himself, He is sufficiency, my "enough"
