I couldn't get a good look in the video but some things to look for would be the throttle and choke plate screws still in the carb. Maybe the muffler is busted internally and a piece backed into the cylinder. Also take a close look at the cages of the crank and rod bearings for damage. Another possibility is that the engine wasn't allowed to warm up properly and the piston expanded too fast and seized. The worst spot in the cylinder was along side the exhaust port farthest away from the flywheel (cooling fan). Thats probably the hottest part of the cylinder wall. You also said it was scored opposite of that spot. A "four scored" piston that has scoring every 90 degrees is also a sign of a piston that expanded faster than the cylinder. He already knew it was locked up. See if you can tell him why.

It would have been nice to look into it further but I wasn't even thinking about it at the time. My uncle being in the hospital and me having to take care of everything here without him I've kind of been stretched thin. That's what I like to do though, allot of times when I buy saws I seek out why they blew up. It's fun and therapeutic and I need to do more of it bc I've just let the rush rush rush pay the bills etc. take allot of my passion away. Thanks for the input bc a cpl of your ideas I never would have thought of as I don't work on trimmers all too often these days. LATER 😁

Dirty air filter/dust ingestion through the intake side could cause scoring.
