I have so many thoughts. I don't wanna downplay any music they've released since Be the Void or B-Room - BUT this might be my favorite single pre album release in 12 years. THIS IS DOCTOR DOGATHAN. This band has been *my favorite band in the world* since I found out about them in 2008. Sadly, oddly, the year after I went to college in Philadelphia. I've seen a thousand bands live and a lot of 'em multiple times.. But Dr. Dog is the best live band I've ever seen. Including Phish and goofy jam bands a bunch. My shows (13 total) span 10/24/2009 at the TLA the two shows 12/28-29 2021 at the TLA. I've lived in Rochester, NY the entire time so most are WNY, a Cleveland 2013, Albany final tour 2021. Their final tour I packed in Albany, Buffalo, Fillmore and the two TLA's, I swore, when they announced they were retiring from touring I would be at every single show I could when they came back for one-offs. I'm proud to say that my bucket list venue, Red Rocks, I have a bullseye center of the entire place ticket. Favorite live band in a place I've been trying to venture our to for decades. Win/win. I jumped the gun on my ticket for Mann because I thought they'd go way quicker, but still amazing seat. Could've waited a few more seconds to click for a closer spot but y'all know Ticketmaster. I needed a guaranteed 100 during presale. All that being said. I'll never miss a show I can adequately afford ever again, but releasing the album the DAY AFTER the two shows hit me hard. Of course it'll be amazing to listen to the band live in any capacity. I'm privileged for sure, and I had to take a step back and think, it'll also be amazing to be exposed to NEW DR. DOG SONGS LIVE for the first time in a looooong time
