Sat and watched the 2hr documentary on Sky Arts on Wednesday night without knowing of Wilko's death, did that hit me hard last night...my weird 6th sense again, I just happen to Google him and catch his obituary in the Guardian. I don't watch TV often, just happen to turn it on as the documentary was starting...greatest band never to make it! Lee and Wilko reunited!

I always thought they should've been in an episode of The Sweeney, playing a band suspected of robbing jewellers shops (or similar) after gigs. Only right at the end would it have turned out to be a gang using their gig schedule to divert attention away from themselves. That would've been a great show - can you imagine Wilko looking well dodgy and Regan and Brilleaux going head to head?!

This was Granada TV's tea-time music/pop show called "45". It was recorded at The Hard Rock Club in Great Stone Road, Old Trafford Manchester - next-door to Lancashire County Cricket Club's ground. The venue was short-lived - closed by the police due to drug-dealing problems, so I heard. It was then converted to a large B&Q store. "45" was a pretty good show - I attended a few recordings (a teacher friend of my Mum's knew one of the sound engineers there). Many of the acts would be lip-syncing, but every week, they would have one - occasionally two - main acts who would perform live, and perform a couple of songs. The live sound in the TV studio setting used to be brilliant - far better than most gig venues. Of course, the old TV speakers never did the show justice. :)

He's great but what you see him playing isn't actually what you hear, with a little experience in guitar you can see how sound and sight don't really match.
