Dr. Florian Wimmers, Emmy Noether Group Leader and iFIT Cluster of Excellence Member at the Medical Faculty of the @unituebingen received the Robert Koch Postdoctoral Award for #Immunology 2023. Dr. Wimmers was awarded the prize in recognition of his work on the pathogenesis of severe #COVID19 courses and for his fundamental systems biology analyses of immune responses.
During his #postdoc, he spent five years in Bali Pulendran's lab at Stanford University and was working on deciphering very early on in the pandemic how the immune response in severe COVID-19 cases differs from that in mild cases.
We spoke with Dr. Wimmers on his award, his postdoc and what his #research will look like in the future within the iFIT Cluster of Excellence.
