As an American, I wish you all the best. Welcome to the bigboy club. May all your dreams come true. Please please don’t over extend yourselves. We are only interested in American blood. A chaotic world is now a good thing for America. Be patient, be wise and be careful. Good luck and congratulations on your success. I hope we can work together.

I remember, like 7-10 years ago, under the KZbin videos, where Friedman was talking about Turkey, the Turks wrote like Yeah, yeah, but what is he up to? Why does he say this? Well, I think now we know what was he up to all this time - The Turkish PLATES.

Hopefully Mr. Friedman has learned from his past predictions of war between the US and Japan, for his own sake, but being so wildly wrong in examining only the current situation and where it could go, I'll look to others for insight into how we may expect the world to turn.

It would be interesting to read Mr Friedman's research on Turkey and the area. To be sure, Turkey is mostly Sunni Muslim but does have issues with it's large and somewhat mobile Kurdish population (whose religious alliances range from Sunni to Sufi, to Shia to Orthodox Christian, to a few other groups). Most of the unrest in the middle east area will come from the conflict between Sunni and Shia for domination of the Muslim populations. With Russia now telling OPEC that they will be subservient to the Arabs and the fact that there is a glut of oil in the world market, thanks to the US shale oil production, the entire region will be destabilized. Turkey has no near future plans to invade Europe, it has more than enough trouble in the middle east to keep it occupied. Friedman is correct to tell Turkey that the two countries need a working commercial relationship. In a way, this relationship cannot become one in which Turkey does all the heavy lifting in the middle east on behalf of the Americans. Americans have no friends in the middle east outside of Israel and even they are not to be trusted. Hence, these two countries need each other but for different reasons. Iran's demographics shows a greatly declining birth rate which makes them the lessor threat in the future. However, there are other countries that will rise to power and a chance to exercise power. The world runs on energy and the middle east sits on massive quantities of it. Resource allocation is the name of the political game.

Did he just leave the gates to Vienna open? Here's an idea I would like to sell them. Reconsecrate the Hagia Sophia and reclaim Constantinople.

@@hasankilic9825 Not afraid at all. Just look at all Islam has since the disaster of 1453. All that is worthwhile could fit in a thimble. In the not too distant future the memory will be a nightmare turned into ashes blown across Asia Minor.

@@gmac805 You ambitious greeks, your passions are much bigger than your talents. You see the same dream since 600 years. It is really unbelievable. Keep on dreaming for next coming centuries, and using Turks as a tool for your domestic politics if you can stay alive. Since you are a bankrupted nation, you have only islands left but your rulers will take them from your hands for the settlement of your debts. Religion is not that important to us like in the Ottoman past. We are raised as secular young nation since 100 years. Do not stick on Erdogan' s regime he is already gone. We are not arabs or wahabees. We are rulers, we create an order that is our job to do in the region and it is not only better for you but for all Balkan nations to unite us in the new world order. You have never been a democracy, you are only a small Balkan country with corrupted governments. You were always like that eventhough you cheated the European nations and finally ended up with bankrupcy. We all know what type of crook things you have done in the union and how you cheated the European institutions..

He is sucking up to gain Turkish clients. He wants revenue from Turkey. I don't think Geopolitical Futures is as successful as STRATFOR. Hence, the need for new clients.
@dddz9614 жыл бұрын
He is the founder of Stratfor, Geopolitical Futures is a much younger company, and he has never been praiseworthy of the Erdogan government. It helps to know something about anything before you comment.

I don't think that's the case in his book next 100 years he mentions 3 countries that will become global power: Turkey, Poland, and Japon that's probably why they called him as a speaker. Now I don't know if Turkey will rise to become a global power with economy this bad but mostly things can turn upside down fairly quickly. So we'll wait and see...
