Dr Jen's is my favorite! I love their paste with 10% nano-hydroxyaptite, most other brands only put 1-3%

Using Dr Jens for a few months now. Love it. It does occasionally break but no microplastics 👍

no microplastics is the best thing! all other floss that I've seen have plastic in them

David's toothpaste also has a floss with nano hydroxyapatite... I'll have to give this one a try as well

I have some and it tears to shreds between about half of my teeth. Only fits in certain areas. If I use it between other spots, I need to use another floss to get it out. I still use Reach most of the time and have verified it is PFAS free.

Glad to hear confirmation that reach is PFAS free! Sorry to hear Jen’s didn’t work for you :( it’s nice there are options to fit various needs.

@@askahygienist Probably would have worked well for me prior to using aligners and getting some bioclear on a few teeth, but not great for very tight spaces.

I love my cocofloss, but I've been wondering if there were non-plastic options just for sustainability reasons. Definitely wanna try this out!

issue with cocofloss for me is the plastic in the floss :/

Whats the benefits of nano hydroxyapatite FLOSS? Doesnt it need to stay on your teeth to do its reminerization? Wouldn’t flossing, then brushing remove the hydroxyapatite?
@askahygienist15 күн бұрын
The brush doesn’t reach areas that the floss does, so it wouldn’t be brushing it off.

@@askahygienist gotcha thanks for the response. Are there any studies on effectiveness of regular vs nano hydroxyapatite floss? Wondering if it is worth the extra spend.

What happened to the Reach floss? Tried going to major retails stores and dollar stores, it seemed like they don't carry them anymore T_T
@askahygienistАй бұрын
Oh? I see it at Fred Meyer still…they did raise the price so I wonder if it doesn’t fit the Dollar store price point anymore..
@AVL-TreeАй бұрын
@@askahygienist Ahh, thanks for letting me know that Fred Meyer stores have them! We don't have the stores here, but I'll look for the equivalent. I missed the 3-pack ones that Walmart used to carry, along with the individually packaged ones. Been to multiple dollar store chains, they just have flossers now which is...not right lol

I recently found Dr.Jen’s website and loved what I read. I’ve been using it and the floss and yes her floss is awesome. However I just went to get a dental clean yesterday and despite a great diet and oral hygiene protocols - I floss and brush 2x a day and drink a lot of water. I apparently have some deep 4 pockets. Do you use/recommend a mouth rinse as well? I used to but can’t find a good one so I just spit the toothpaste out and let it sit on my teeth before bed. And for me unfortunately no toothpaste has stopped my sensitivity issue on a few teeth. I feel my hygienist is proving too hard to then perhaps creating the 4’s if that’s possible.
@askahygienist3 ай бұрын
Certainly can be hygienist error, but also 4mm isn’t necessarily “deep” depending on what else is going on. Did your hygienist also mention calculus/tartar buildup or inflammation in the 4mm areas? I’ve had history of ortho and I have some 4 mm pockets because of that. You could also try water flossing to help stimulate gums and tighten them up. Do you wear a night guard or retainer at night? Grinding or clenching your teeth can also cause slightly deeper pockets; on the other hand wearing an appliance at night can also cause gums to be a bit boggy and give a deeper reading. Many factors, I wouldn’t get super discouraged.
@natashatanenbaum52703 ай бұрын
@@askahygienist No, she didn’t mention anything else and I’ve never had gingivitis. I do wear a retainer at night. I have used my water flosser in the past but heard it could push bacteria down further so that scared me to stop but maybe I should start that again. I do have dry mouth but sip water all day and chew or have some 100% Xylitol mints from Dr. Ellie. Love your videos and thanks for replying.

@@natashatanenbaum5270 I wouldn't be worried about the waterflosser pushing things down if you are also flossing. The danger with water flosser pushing things down is if you have extremely deep pockets (like 9mm and beyond). I could see something getting stuck that way, but with a 4mm measurement, your body can clear out stuff, too. It seems maybe the retainer is causing 4mm; I wouldn't worry. Happy to help!

Yes recently got a sample! Not bad in terms of flavor/texture, haven’t used them long enough to give thoughts on efficacy. Also, pricey! 🥴

How long should fresh breath last after brushing teeth?
@askahygienist6 ай бұрын
Ummm there’s not a particular timeline that I know. For me, it can start to not smell fresh after a single meal lol. Depends where the bad breath is coming from.
