How profound. John is in the bathroom making nightingale sounds. I really don’t want to picture that.

I read Hegel's Philosophy of Fine Art a while ago. Recently, I realised that I couldn't say a thing about it. This sort video was incredibly concise, understandable and helpful. Thanks. PS, I'm gonna read it again soon with your summary in mind.

Thank you for the video; you helped me understand Hegel's philosophy better. The word sensuous appears often in his writing as regards art, and it seems to have a meaning I am not familiar with. Could you say something about that? Does it mean "of sense" or "relating to senses?
@philjenkins1292 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for your comment Buonarotti10! My understanding of his use of the word "sensuous" is just to refer, for example, to an object that can be detected by the senses. For Hegel, art must definitionally be a "sensuous" medium, as opposed to say, conceptual art which wasn't really a thing in Hegel's day.

I had a quick question over the difference between Kant and Hegel's difference of artnature ?
@philjenkins1292 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your good question Hannah Drum! Both wrote extensively on art and nature, so I encourage you to read Kant's Critique of Judgment, and Hegel's Aesthetics: Lectures on Fine Art.
