Kemetic yoga: Kemetic yoga is a system of yoga which involves a combination of physical movements, deep breathing techniques and meditation.[1] Developed in the 1970s, this form of yoga is inspired by Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs. It has an emphasis on breathing patterns, and also inculcates the philosophies of self-development,[1] healing of mind-body-spirit and self-discovery.[2] Kemetic yoga's practice was developed in the 20th century by claiming association with some hieroglyphic texts from ancient Egypt as well as the wall carvings and paintings on Egyptian temples which portray pharaohs in stretching postures.[1][3] A small research conducted in the 1970s by yoga professionals Asar Hapi and Yirser Ra Hotep is said to have resulted in the development of what is known as Kemetic yoga.[4]

@@lauwilliams-hn8qs correction of a false correction: no mention of yoga every in Egyptian texts and Kemetic works. People in the 70's fabricated yoga. The word yoga is not Kemet. Kemet thus is filled with fakeness.

The education in America must be going to shit. The word Yoga is a Sanskrit term meaning to unite the individual with the Cosmic. It's a way of life. Westerners, especially Americans think it's just physical poses. The Kemetic term to the Sanskrit word Yoga is Smai. Smai means union. Not just any union but union of the spirit and body, union of the individual and the Cosmic. It gets deep.

@lauwilliams-hn8qs if your comment was directed to me, I will, in turn respond with the following: There is a great deal of pseudo information in Egyptomania as well as the black counciness communities. There is also a lot of money spent in pursuit of 'hidden Kemetic knowledge' and other similar endeavors. Fair enough. People are free to spend their money however they like. IMO, time would be much better spent studying the authentic culture and wisdom that can be found in both the carribbean and the US. Zora Neale Hurston could be a starting point for that kind of journey. In closing, I would say that if I was going to study an esoteric practice such as yoga that I would want to do so under someone who is qualified and who knows what they are doing. Thank you for your kind words in regards to my personal peace.

@@Nkosi766 Actually, the ancient Greeks broadly state they acquired most of their knowledge from Kemet, where many of them went to study math, science, medicine, spirituality, etc, etc, etc with the master teachers. And with your lack of knowledge on this very simple fact of the ancient Greeks, why would anyone expect anything further from you. You're toting Eurocentric propaganda that started in the late 1700s that is not based in fact/reality and thus continues to be debunked by scholars, and others who are basing their findings on facts/evidence.
