Dr Johan Burger discussed use of deadly force in self-defense

The case of the Glenvista couple south of Johannesburg who reportedly shot and killed 2 armed robbers in the early hours of this morning has once again thrown the spotlight on home robberies in the county. But what do we know about home robberies in South Africa? Much of what we do know comes from data collected by the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the National Victims of Crime Surveys (NVCS), undertaken by Statistics South Africa.

Why is it that a group of lawmakers can make a law that values the life of a terrorizer who breaks into a LAW abiding citizen's home which to me puts the victim more at risk when they have to think about themselves,their families AND the robber. This is too much to think about especially in the middle of the night for the average person. This whole thing of trying to protect the robber is STUPID. I believe if a person breaks into someone's home that person should EXPECT every amount of force from the LAW abiding citizen to eliminate the threat. And I believe that it needs to be LAW that the victim/ homeowner CANNOT be prosecuted under ANY circumstances.
