Police Minister Bheki Cele's support for stricter legislation on gun possession hasn't been well received by some groups. While commenting on the success of the firearms amnesty programme last week, Cele suggested he would propose amendments to the Firearms Control Act to prevent individuals from owning guns.
AfriForum has criticised the Minister's comments citing high crime levels in the country.
But Gun Free South Africa has welcomed the statement.
