Dr McDougall had a Lacunar Stroke at 18. He was not expected to live then. 59 years later is a credit to the lifestyle he adopted as a young doctor. And he died in his sleep completely unaware of anything until his death. It was the way he always wanted to go.

McDougall and Durianrider both indirectly saved my life. I was a 21 year old, overweight, pre-diabetic, depressed, angry, anxious, terrified, nocturnal incell. 3 years after McDougall and DR I was 5% to 10% body fat, 18 lbs more muscle, always excited about life and quite an athlete. Today I know its all about diet and lifestyle. Everything else is about who you are around.

This is extremely painful to digest. Cannot believe that he is gone. He had a tough time with his health early on in life. It pisses me off that John didn't live any longer than my mom who was morbidly obese and lived on grease. However, considering his history (he still walked with a limp from his massive stroke as a teenager. How many of us suffered strokes and paralysis in our teens?) living to 77 was actually a great accomplishment. He had even predicted that he would die in his sleep at around age eighty, if nothing else got to him (windsurfing accident, COVID, etc.) I've been following his diet for twenty years. I'm close to his age. Do i expect to die anytime soon? Maybe. I will say this. I used to have asthma. I used to be crippled with arthritis. I needed a walker and couldn't lift five pounds. Today i have the body of a twenty five year old. I recently wrecked on my bike, went bouncing across the pavement, got all scraped up, but i wasn't even sore the next day. But nobody believes me when i tell them how sick i used to be and nobody believes me when i tell them how old i am. I owe this to John. He saved my life. Thank you John. May you rest in peace.

@@Kinesiology411 I don’t think it failed him so to speak. I think his falls may have exposed the knowledge he didn’t understand yet that in old age and at a slender weight one benefits from the addition of some butter, maybe eggs, and an occasional chicken broth even. He was a devout lover of animals, particularly sea creatures, and I think would have willingly given up some time on earth to avoid killing one. Yourself and all the people you admire such as McDougall, Kempner, Greger, Pritikin, none of them have any credentials or Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry and no awards, honors, inventions, patents, Nobel Prize in anything and they have zero ethics or morals and no long term track record in anything. You should only get diet advice from a real Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry with awards and honors and or a Nobel Prize with a long term track record of being right such as Roger J. Williams, Fred Kummerow, George H. Whipple, William Parry Murphy, Edward Adelbert Doisy, Albert Szent-Gyorgi, Frederick Gowland Hopkins, Zheng Ji, all 8 would say that single ingredient meat, poultry, fish and eggs are good for you in moderation and that dairy is ok in small amounts if you like it and are not allergic to it but a human is an omnivore and they should still consume a balanced diet in the four basic food groups. Follow what is based on exact proof.

Can you please tell me which video this was? I’ve watched many of his lectures and his superb website. I regard him as a legend. His diet advice was spot-on and literature based. His beliefs in childhood vaccines was very foolish and not based on literature (as there isn’t any). He was quite an enigma! Thanks.

There is absolutely nothing to back up your speculation. We don't even have a "cause of death". "died peacefully in his sleep" is all we have. I've based a good deal of my eating after following him way back in the 90's when he had a weekly call in radio show. The health program and eventually the family owe us a cause of death, given how much time Dr. McDougall spoke about the subject and its causes for so many others when they passed. Including Dr. Robert Atkins and his sudden death..

@protocolsoftheridersofdurian Ай бұрын
What's your source for that claim? What I heard him say about vaccinations was that he and his family took the ones that were efficacious long term and did not take ones where the virus in question mutates and there is a different strain from year to year.

There are free range cattle here and over the past 50-100 years they have completely turend dry grassland to complete desert. I want to reverse this. I love figs so I will be growing these here along with other desert adapted trees. Harvesting rainwater, and I hope some of the grass land comes back. Yes eating meat causes land degridation.

RIP Dr McDougall. Don't quite agree about books. Most books are in digital format and have been immortalised also, even more so than video due to PDF format and being on multiple platforms. If the internet or KZbin goes down, or you get banned, at the push of a button all your videos are unavailable. The written word has a lot of power.

Nathan Pritikin, (August 29, 1915 - February 21, 1985), who wrote Live Longer Now, taught Dr McDougall his high carb, low fat, plant based diet to reverse heart disease at The Pritikin Longevity Center, in Santa Barbara, CA. Dr Michael Greger's grandmother also went to the Pritkin Center, reversing her heart disease, which inspired him to become a doctor. The rest is history.

The 3 people you mentioned have zero credentials in nutritional biochemistry and no awards, honors, inventions, patents or Nobel Prize or long term track record in anything. Greger has no license or board certification in anything so it's best to only get diet advice from a real Ph.D in nutritional biochemistry with awards and honors and or a Nobel Prize with a long term track record of being right such as Roger J. Williams, Fred Kummerow, George H. Whipple, William Parry Murphy, Edward Adelbert Doisy, Albert Szent-Gyorgi, Frederick Gowland Hopkins, Zheng Ji, all 8 would say that single ingredient meat, poultry, fish and eggs are good for you in moderation and that dairy is ok in small amounts if you like it and are not allergic to it but a human is an omnivore and they should still consume a balanced diet in the 4 basic food groups.
