Dr.Paterson’s big mistake is taking an offensive position when talking about Islam, when it’s clear that he isn’t well educated on this subject. It would be okay if he kept on talking about his own religion without attacking Islam, because by doing so you are stepping into a territory that you are not familiar with and will definitely make mistakes that are clear as day to us Muslims.

@@sparrow3491 Thing is, he says many times he doesn't know much about Islam yet he keeps on dropping erroneous statements one after the other instead of staying at the surface level of how things are and not how they came to be. You don't need to be a scholar to make comments about how muslims act as a generalisation today or how Islam is understood because there are enough studies to understand this in a simple manner. When you jump into historical studies, or theological interpretations of religious texts, without any understanding of said text from different point of views, you're gonna get bashed here and there, and this is exactly what I blame Dr.Peterson for. WIthout a proper understanding of the global and historical context of Islam, he allows himself to think critically about this subject while he should keep a certain distance due to his ignorance ( not in a bad way, just that a human can't be knowledgeable for every topic and this is one where Dr.Peterson obviously isn't ).

Mohammad hijab rules 1. Change linguistic meanings of definitions. 2. Make it so the original meaning of the definition doesn’t apply to the argument. 3. Criticize the opponent by straw manning the opponent and yelling at them. 4. Use mental gymnastics to deceive your followers to make them think that you actually had a point.

I am a Peterson fan and I know damn well how seriously his fanbase takes his words and ideas. You should keep at it and make sure to really get his attention. He claimed he wanted to rectify himself but has done nothing for over a year to prove it. He clearly has a bias against Islam. Edit: The podcast with Hijab has been filmed so my comment is invalid now.

Now begin to conquer and possess his land.” 32 When Sihon and all his army came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz, 33 the LORD our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army. 34 At that time we took all his towns and completely destroyed them-men, women and children. We left no survivors. 35 But the livestock and the plunder from the towns we had captured we carried off for ourselves. 36 From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the gorge, even as far as Gilead, not one town was too strong for us. The LORD our God gave us all of them.

Really? I'm going to check this out. Because I too felt all the commenters on Hijab's videos were jumping to conclusions and insulting Peterson wrongfully. I know Hijab mentioned in the first video of his refutations to not insult Peterson because he had some medical issues and mental issues too and he was not doing so well, so to go light on him and not spread hate. However, I feel that Hijab should have emphasised this further in his other videos of refutation, especially after seeing all the hate comments. And also, that Hijab should be careful to not use unnecessary harsh and insulting language, because then it makes it feel like he has something personal against Peterson, which is not productive in any kind of discussion/debate, in my opinion, and also reveals that he too has been bought on from all the hate in the comments. Then again, this is one of my personal criticisms of Hijab in general, besides the whole Peterson situation, despite how highly I regard Hijab, his knowledge, his manner of speaking and articulating, and what he stands for and represents. Allah bless him, make him increase in knowledge, wisdom and taqwa, protect him, give him victory, and guide him in all that he does. Ameen Ya Rabbi, Ya Aleem, Ya Hakeem, Ya Naser, Ya Hadee, ya Samee' ya Mujeeb ya Wahab, ya Akram AlAkrameen. (Ameen, My Lord, The All-Knowing, The Most Wise, The One that gives Victory, The One that guides, The All-Hearing, The One that Answers Prayers, The One that bestows gifts, The Most Generous of the generous.) I know that the things Peterson has said about Islam are false and seem to have ill-intent behind them. However, we all must remember how far the media is pushing its Islamophobic narratives and how that really can get to some people, even Muslims themselves. I think this is the case with Peterson, especially since he is higher up in academia, he'll be surrounded more by these type of Islamophobic ideas. I hope he and Hijab can have a private talk, and that Peterson can learn more and understand Islam more before attempting to talk about it. Also, having a private talk between themselves will make it more genuine and less staged, there will be less pressure, it would be calmer, and it would be more helpful for Peterson, I think. To be honest, I think the real reason why so many people were bugged out that the debate didn't go ahead, was because they like seeing people get proved wrong and shamed publicly. I know that a part of all of us was genuinely excited for this debate because both individuals are highly intellectual, and seeing the way that debate would have turned out would be enlightening. And also, because Peterson seems like a genuine and good man, leaving aside this refutation series, and that he deserves to have some true and accurate insight on Islam. However, the way that people reacted after it got cancelled, all the hate and harshness, just proves that actually, more than this good intention, they wanted to see Peterson humiliated. I don't think that is the right mindset, from the Islamic point of view, at all. And it's absolutely shameful that the Muslim community could have such mannerisms and bad conduct. I'd like to say that although Peterson seems to be biased on the topic of Islam, regardless of the reason behind it, and that statements he has made are false, he can be corrected and the situation can be clarified without having to insult and degrade him. All of us can make mistakes, including highly academic and influential people. Now, although I agree that public people, especially those in academia, have a greater responsibility over their actions and words, and that their mistakes can be considered to have more serious effects than the average person, there are still certain manners and etiquettes, that besides being necessary to use, are also much much more effective in delivering whatever message you want across. I feel that good manners definitely make people automatically respect and listen to you, and to have their hearts warm towards you; it's a special characteristic that unfortunately we are seeing less and less of these days. Remember that even Allah emphasises the significance of the Prophet's manners, especially in preaching, on the success of his spread of Islam. Also we must remember, as Muslims, that if you can find one excuse for yourself, you must find 70 excuses for your brother (from a Hadith, I unfortunately can't reference accurately). And that's my two cents on the development of this situation. Salam 😊

I just can't understand why he would start commenting on things that, in his own words, he has little knowledge on; i.e. Islam. On top of this, he seems to have an anti-islam bias. For an academic (particularly of his calibre) to do this is unforgivable, unless he (as encouraged by Mohammed Hijab) retracts this stuff and carries on with his phycology or he brings (sound) evidence to back up what he's saying. As Mohammed Hijab points out, he keeps saying he doesn't know enough on the subject, yet he still insists on making (very bold) statements on Islam. This then, for me, puts his motives into question.

Jesus denied being God. Mark 10:18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone. Matthew 19:17 Matthew changed word of Jesus “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” Concept of God in Islam one God, is the most important and foundational concept in Islam. Muslims believe in one God who created the universe and has power over everything within it. He is unique and exalted above everything He creates, and His greatness cannot be compared to His creation. Furthermore, He is the only one deserving of any worship and the ultimate purpose of all creation is to submit to Him. The Islamic understanding of God is distinct from all other religions and beliefs in various respects since it is based on a pure and clear understanding of monotheism. This essentially captures the concept of God in Islam, which will be further elaborated in this pamphlet. Muslims often refer to God as Allah. This is a universal name for God and does not refer to an exclusively ‘Islamic’ God. Interestingly, this name is related to the Aramaic and Hebrew names for God, Allaha and Elohim. Therefore, Allah is simply the Arabic name for God which affirms that He is One singular God with no partners or equals. The name Allah cannot be pluralized or limited to a specific gender, which establishes that God is One and that He is unique from everything He creates. Muslims continue to use this original Arabic name for God (Allah) since it perfectly expresses His unique qualities. God is the Creator and the Sustainer of the universe who created everything for a reason. Muslims believe that He created humankind with a simple purpose - to worship Him. He sent messengers to guide people in fulfilling this purpose. Some of these messengers include Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, peace be upon all of them. They all taught a consistent message about God by affirming His greatness as the Creator and guiding people to worship Him alone. This basic concept has always resonated with people’s natural understanding of God. When the final prophet, Muhammad, peace be upon him (pbuh), was asked about God, the answer came directly from God in the holy book of Muslims, the Quran (also spelled ‘Koran’): “Say, ‘He is God the One, God the eternal. He begot no one nor was He begotten. No one is comparable to Him.’” [112:1-4] This is a clear statement by God describing Himself to humanity without any room for confusion. God is One and is exalted above everything He creates and He is capable over all things. Fully accepting the oneness of God is to accept that He is distinct from everything else. It would not suit God’s majesty and glory to associate the limited attributes of His creation to Him because He is not restricted in any way, while His creation is. He is the First with no beginning and the Last with no end. Everything in the universe was created by His will. He is not confined by space or time and He is the only One who is in control and provides for His creation. “He is God: there is no god other than Him. It is He who knows what is hidden as well as what is in the open, He is the Lord of Mercy, the Giver of Mercy. He is God: there is no god other than Him, the Controller, the Holy One, Source of Peace, Granter of Security, Guardian over all, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Truly Great; God is far above anything they consider to be His partner. He is God: the Creator, the Originator, the Shaper. The best names belong to Him. Everything in the heavens and earth glorifies Him: He is the Almighty, the Wise.” [Quran, 59:22-24] Why did God create people whom He already knew would reject Him and go to hell? Shouldn’t God who is All Loving instead not create them so that they won’t go through punishment? These are some common questions connected to this topic. Answered by Nouman Ali Khan Pure Monotheism “God: there is no god but Him, the Ever Living, the Ever Watchful. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. All that is in the heavens and in the earth belongs to Him. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His leave? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, but they do not comprehend any of His knowledge except what He wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth; it does not weary Him to preserve them both. He is the Most High, the Tremendous.” [Quran, 2:255] The primary pillar of Islamic belief clearly states that there is nothing worthy of worship except God. Associating partners with God or attributing qualities of lesser beings to Him is considered to be the greatest sin in Islam. In the past, this often took the form of idol worship or praying to multiple lesser gods. Although this is less common now, the current era has replaced many of the physical ‘idols’ of the past with other contemporary ‘gods.’ Many people today allow passions like entertainment, drugs, relationships or material objects to become the center of their lives. They become so consumed with these things that they submit to whatever will allow them to fulfill their desires. For example, if a drug addict allows their addiction to control their actions, beliefs, feelings, and behaviors, causing them to risk their personal safety and the safety of others, that drug has essentially become their god. Likewise, if another person puts a loved one before God by obeying that person even if that causes them to transgress against God’s commands, their loved one has taken precedence over God. Islam teaches that people should completely submit only to God as He is the only One worthy of their worship. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it belongs to Him. The Quran points out the faulty thinking of those who worship other than God: “‘How can you worship things you carve with your own hands, when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?’” [37:95-96] www.whyislam.org/brochures/conceptofgod/

I really do wonder, after seeing these blunders, did JP review his own "material" on Islam and did some research and realized his flaws and lack of information in the matter? Usually, JP is smart and humble enough to save the situation when he is not well rehearsed in the topic (like bro Hijab says, he avoids making arguments directly because of the risk of refutation 7:50) but this is usually tactics he uses with laymen, his main argument stays, Islam is not good. Brother Mohammed is anything but a layman, especially in these topics and JP knows this and facing him in this area might be a fatal blow to his career and public image, he mightve even thought he dodged a bullet by not meeting Hijab, although its unfortunate because Hijab also doesn't argue to crush like with David Wood, he is just trying to teach here, in my opinion. Maybe this is the best way for JP to learn and better himself and do some proper research about Islam.

Good points. In addition: Islam has a very sophisticated ethical economic system which was decimated by colonialism.
