The irony is that Bart is exposing the insincerity of Muslims. He criticise his book cause he is facing discrepancies in it but Hijab who said "there are variations in the reading of the Quran that affect the meaning of the text" does not have the guts to criticise the "multiple meanings" of the verses of the Quran. Bart is guessing trying to figure the real Bible but Allah has given us the tools to find the real Quran. Yes !!!!!! First of all, Allah has let us know that other books will be written and be called the quran but they are not!!!! How many times Allah says "this Quran" or "this hadith" in the Quran? What do you learn from prophet Muhammad saying "This Quran has been been revealed to me to preach it to you or to any generation it might reach" (6:19)? How can you not understand that other book will be attributed to him? This Quran, not the others!!!!!🤔🤔 When Allah Himself says "this is NOT a FABRICATED hadith" (12:111), don't you not understand that they will fabricate books and call them qurans when they are not? Didn't they say "bring us another quran or change it"? Didn't Allah say they will write books and say "this is from Allah"? I guess you are all waiting for me to answer your innermost question "bro, how so you know the real Quran"? Yes Allah did give us a universal tool to know and recognize His Quran. It's in Chapter 74 starting verse 30 "19 are/is guarding it"!!!!! The "are" refers to the 19 angels guarding the hellfire (74:31-1 Only angels are guardians of the hellfire). The "is" is referring to the number 19 (74-31-2 We have chosen their NUMBER only to disturb the disbelievers, to give certainty to the people of the book, to increase the faith of the believers, to expose the hypocrites and the disbelievers....). Now how can the number 19 do all of that? Well, Allah has coded His real Quran wth that number. Every letter, every verse, every word, every expression, every chapter is coded with the number 19 in the Quran. A few examples : 114 chapters in the Quran (19x6), 6346 verses in the Quran (19x334), 2698 times the name Allah in the Quran (19x142), the basmala has 19 letters, the expression "God alone" (Allahu wadahu) is 5 times in the Quran and if you add the chapter and verse numbers of those 5 times, you got 361 (19x19)!!!!! Now this last one will freak you out : every chapter has so many verses between 3 and 286. Now align all the chapter numbers followed by the number of verses in each like chapter 1 has 7 verses (11234567) followed by 212345678...286 312345....200.........114123456. This is a number long of 12692 digits and it's a multiple of 19!!!!!!!! So any Quran fails to respond to the 19 criteria is manmade and is not from Allah. Ain't that simple? Very indeed. But Hijab will keep on defending different qira'aats even though Allah says "one only"!!!!!! The other admission of guilt that Hijab did in this interview is that "there are contradictions in the hadiths books" !!!! Although he red himself the verse saying that "if this Quran came from humans, you would found numerous contradictions, he cannot conclude that the hadiths are not from Allah cause of their blatant contradictions!!!!!!!!! Does he believe in Allah? Clearly not!!! Bart said "humans too do write books without contradictions"!!!!!! Hey brother Bart, Allah is talking about books said that they are coming from God like the Bible, the Quran or the Torah!!!!!. Your way of thinking is so low. Sorry but we all know that math books or others can be without contradictions. But we are talking religion and God here. Allah say only the purified ones will touch His Quran!!!!!! If you don't believe in the miracle 19, you will never touch the real Quran. Salam

@@bourbon4707 the muslims believe crucifixion means death on the cross of which Jesus never experienced in relation to that if Jesus used the sign of JONAH to articulate his experience then at no time did he even experience death thus Christians here have a catastrophic problem because either Jesus died on the cross which therefore makes him a false prophet because it violates his statement pertaining to. His similitude to JONAH or he fulfilled his similitude to jJONAH fulfilling his statement thus erasing the Christian belief that salvation is through his BLOOD and DEATH of Jesus as he NEVER. DIED these are 2 antithetical conclusions it’s ONE OR THE OTHER there is no other choice or acceptable middle ground remember his DEATH and a BLOOD wax to end the system of sacrifice forever Paul makes this clear in HEBREWS .10:18 the reality is that for Jesus to be incorporated into that statement he had TO DIE thus using JONAH as a sign was Inexcusably STUPID and IGNORANT which yet gives rise to another set of problems regarding the claim for. Is divinity ...... as for his disciples believing he was god that. Completely contrary to the truth the notion of belief in him being god is a much later development long long after the disciples died as admitted to me directly in conversation with DR. @@bourbon4707 I fall The gospel authors believed Jesus was god then it would have bedbugs authoritative with no point of dispute but the historical reality is this that it took close to 400 years for Christianity to establish an orthodoxy to be representative of the collective belief of and the collective of the body of Christ his divinity and trinity were the most hotly disputed issues of that time if Dr BART believed as you say then it’s a con session to remain a professor at his college pure and simple

Worshiping the Father is simultaneously worshiping the Son because the Word ( Yeshua) is the eternal world of the Father. 1. The Son shares the same glory with the Father, even before the world began ( John 17:5). 2. We honour the Son just as we honour the Father ( John 5:23). 3. Yeshua said where two or more are gathered in His name, His is with them (Mathew 18:20). Only God is omnipresent. 4. Yeshua claimed to be Lord. John 13:13 5. Thomas referred to Him as God. John 20:28. 6. The Bible stated that He existed in the FORM of God before coming down to earth. The reason He was born of a virgin. The Eternal Word became flesh. Philippians 2:6 and John 1:1. 7. Yeshua forgave sins. Only God can forgive sins. Luke 7:48. 8. He will be the judge during judgement day. John 5:22 9. Because He is divine, He even existed before Adam, Abraham, etc. “Before Abraham was, I AM”.John 8:58 10. He says we should ask Him anything in His name during prayer. John 14:14. So, let me get this. He is in the form of God, He is the Word of God, He shares the same glory and honour with the Father, He forgives sins, He will be the judge on judgement, He is the ONLY person able to save and He answers prayers. Do you seriously believe such a being is just a man?

@@FlyingSpaghettiMonster2000 nah..., nothing here warrants an argument for Muslim Apologetic. Bart's view on either is "expected", it is simply his atheistic stance. What is "unexpected" however, are things like "Jesus was indeed crucified. As a neutral atheist Bart found historical evidence for this"; "Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, all of the four gospels attest to the message and notion that Jesus is God": "Islam can make self-claim of Muhammad being a prophet and Quran was from God", etc. Unexpected because these are all against what Hijab was anticipating, went against his original agenda. In fact can be used as supporting points against and breaking the usual Dawah script.

Here is summary of what I got out of the dialogue. According to Bart, the Gospels can be used to determine what is historical about Jesus. Jesus died by crucifixion. Jesus is the Son of God. The Gospels do portray Jesus as God in some sense. Bart did not give up Christianity because of his scholarship. If a book does not have contradictions that does not mean it is from God. A book that has contradictions does not mean the book is not from God. Historical contradictions does not mean what is intended theologically is incorrect. Hijab kept saying evangelicals believe in biblical inerrancy, however, most evangelicals I know do not believe in biblical inerrancy. Most believe only the original autographs were inerrant. Bart Ehrman rebukes Hijab, pointing out the arrogance behind telling us what God wills and does not will regarding Divine revelation. Paul knew James, the brother of Jesus and Peter the disciple of Jesus. I would add my own point. even if the Quran is perfectly preserved, (which is not the case), and contains information from a greater intelligence, even then, it does not prove the Quran is from, the God. So, thanks Hijab for having Bart on. My faith is much stronger for it.

@@Uthopemus It is plain from this interview that Hijab has made a fundamental error in going public with Mr Ehrman in order to validate Islam. All the points posted by Michael James and spoken by Mr Ehrman comprehensively contradicts the Standard Islamic Narrative (SIN). The video does nothing to help the Standard Islamic narrative. Modern Islamic scholarship and apologetics have hit an all time low. Jesus Christ is and will forever remain the Eternal Son of the Most High God, he is God according to the Flesh. Those who have ears to hear let them hear.

You must be a Christian for sure as they have a tradition of misunderstanding and they like to propagate confusion even to this day. That's why there's so many, many denominations and versions of the Bible. There's nothing negative in honest investigation. We don't have the concept you can't use you intellect or the "it's a mystery card".

@@sondrameyer2816 I'm Messianic Jew. The confusion you are referring to is nothing more than freewill, something absent in Islam, so this is your misunderstanding not a Christian one. Denominations, stems out of human differences or disagreements, Christians have always exercised God's choice of freewill (Islam dictates). I have yet to find a Bible version that contradicts another on the Christian core doctrines, so they are not comparable to denominations in their differences (again freewill). So you say there is nothing "negative in honesty", what honesty are you referring to, based on the title of the video? Here again we have "human differences or disagreements" and one group attempting to prove it's point, what has this to do with honesty? Sounds more like trying to score brownie points with its own conclusions. I'm also assuming by "mystery" you are referring to the trinity ('tri' meaning 'three' and 'unity' meaning 'one')? From a Christian perspective this is a mystery and understandably so, else they would be claiming to know the incomprehensible God which Jesus himself claims "no man knows". I know Muslims claim to know God to the point that they know he can't be as complex as being one God that exists in three different 'persons'. Why, because the Muslim rational is, if human's can't explain it, it is impossible for God (the rational is, God can't be a mystery to man). Yet they also claim God is incomprehensible, but they don't really believe this else they would not confuse God's oneness with his nature (and that he is different from anything else. Omnipotence - God is all-powerful - everything consistent with God's nature is possible).

@@sondrameyer2816 Okay, so you seem to refer to Ehrman as some type of god, and knower of all things, the man's a atheist (actually he can't make up his mind what he is). But incidentally he is a textual scholar so what does the man really know about Christian theology? He steers clear of these types of confrontations because he knows any good theologian will trash him on Biblical theology. I know enough about Islam to realize it consistently contradicts the Abrahamic God it claims to serve. God says don't, Allah says it's okay - God says 1 man 1 woman, Allah says 2, 3 or 4 etc. In your dreams Muslims have freewill, they certainly tell themselves they do, but they don't, they are under constant control (they have to pray like 7th century Arabs, grow a beard like one, dress like one etc.) - is this what you call freewill (if so, then you don't know what freewill is). As for Singer, the man's a fraud & a fool, who after 2000 years is still misleading Jews with his deceit & lies and it's doubtful he can help me, he needs to help himself first and free himself from his deceit & lies.

Well he is with the majority. It was documented after all. Its only 400 years after a Arab man in a cave said that Jesus was not crucified after he was spoken to by the angel Gabriel who was speaking for God. No witnesses to this . Read that back. Yes that makes alot of sense

Why is it hard to accept? Do you not understand the meaning of "historical"? He believes Jesus existed but was not a God. He was a MAN. He was crucified due to destablishing the status quo. Bring a message of God etc. Unbeknownst to him this is the Islamic narrative. Minus the supernatural element of Jesus soul being raised to heaven and another soul (Judas?) being transposed onto Jesus body.

There is no why? How? Who? Where? account. The Bible provides great detail. Stating that Jesus was before the Sanhedrin / Pilate / Herod/ the journey to the place of death / the time of death / the burial / the tomb etc.

The Quran’s view on the crucifixion is very clear. The Quran states the following: “And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.” 4:157 The verse clearly states that it appeared to them that they had indeed crucified him, therefore it makes sense that there is a historical claim that Jesus was crucified. Given that there is a historical claim of crucifixion, a naturalist historian like Ehrman will obviously accept that. He doesn’t believe in the supernatural, he doesn’t believe in revelation and he doesn’t believe in God. So it makes perfect sense that he’d just go with the naturalist explanation of the historical claim of crucifixion being what actually happened rather than the Muslim claim of God intervening and the supernatural occurrence of the messiah being saved (which btw is very clearly prophesied in the Old Testament). You really think Hijab doesn’t know this? You think he brought Ehrman on to proof Islam’s view on the crucifixion? How about instead of making silly claims you instead focus on where a naturalist historian like Ehrman’s views do line up with the Quran. That the Bible has undoubtedly been corrupted, edited and that the originals are no longer extant, that the authors are unknown men with pseudonyms and the avalanche of evidence against biblical inerrancy that almost every single biblical scholar attests to. It’s funny how most Christians in the comments (the vast majority of whom believe in biblical innerancy) ignore this and instead focus on some straw man argument that wasn’t even being made.

Jesus was a man, what Ehrman says is that the islamic tradition on Jesus is false, and the christian tradition it's much more close to the truth. In terms of logic, chronology, history and every other sensible observations, Jesus never claimed to be divine, all according to real experts among Unitarians and the earliest Christians/scholars and modern scholars like Bart Ehrman who literally says “I DONT THINK THE HISTORICAL JESUS CONSIDERED HIMSELF TO BE A DIVINE BEING AT ALL!” So the only way you can continue to believe Jesus may be divine is by blind faith ALONE, which would make sense if coming from a Christian who continues to believe in books with tons of contradictions/errors as Dr. Ehrman points out here 17:18 and if that describes you, then according to Dr. Ehrman you have already made up your mind therefore you are academically disingenuous and lack enough integrity for any further intellectual dialogue from me because you will always refuse facts. So if you believe in what he says - believe in everything and not just a few things. And he said that he does infact believe that Jesus died, so this goes against the Quran - so if you believe in Bart Ehrman, then it means that the Quran is false.

One does not have to be religious to see that all the textual evidence shows that Jesus was crucified at the very least. I don't think that Jesus was a god any more than I think that Allah is a god, but the Christian texts are more true to what happened. The Quran, written 600 years after the fact, claims that while the gospels (which are just a generation or two removed from the events) are not correct. Historically such a view does not hold up. The Quran also uses many late sources, such as the Infancy Gospels, which are highly fictional, yet it claims that these things also happened. No historian would accept such a view.

@@theastronomer5800 You are correct. The evidence we have shows that Jesus was crucified irrespective if you believe if Christianity is correct or not. So why would Mohammed come up with this story. Simple, he needed to be a prophet so that his leadership role was legitimate. If Jesus died on the cross why would we need a further prophet? Logically another prophet is not necessary if Jesus died on the cross for our sins and following Jesus will lead to heaven. So coming up with the story that it only appeared as if Jesus died on the cross is a great compromise to explain the events 600 years earlier, yet still explain why a further prophet for man-kind was needed. So besides the historical evidence for Jesus dying on the cross, the story told by Mohammed makes sense if we assume that he needed to legitimize himself as a leader of the Arabs. But it also tells us that Mohammed was never a prophet of any God.

His reason for leaving can be and is applied to islam as well. I will give you a head start. Christianity wrote the new testament, the new testament did not create christianity. This is a clue as to why Urhman could still be a christian all those years after finding errors, 99% of which were not theological. The answer is in this discussion by the way, it surprised me. Bart clearly said -the Messiah is human -Jesus never thought himself as a divine being -Jesus never thought he exist before he was born. -the term son of god is not the literal son of God. 4 points for muslim He believes Jesus did died and buried. 1 point for christians, 1 point for muslim. Cause the bible didn't said he was buried, Jesus was place in a tomb blocked by a boulder while guarded by romans. This is totally in line with the Christian viewpoint and totally opposite of the lsIamic viewpoint. He said all the gospel author believe Jesus is God. No points for both. -I didn't see Bart specifically said that in the video, he did said the synoptic Gospels are distinct between one another and said John is more spiritual. But even if he does not mentioned it, I do know that atleast 3 of the authors regard Jesus as God. No points -"Quran has a lot of contradictions".. not found in the video. No points -"Jesus story don't line up with the muslim view".. he didn't said that specifically, only on the death part and he did answer Hijab who is Jesus to him.. 9 out of 10 was align with our view. He was just saying according to the History , History doesn't speak much about a person specifically in detail but it depends upon the historian who writes it - He wrote what he believes about him . Historian writes historically not theologically. But the Gospels which are historically Realiable tells About Jesus in a detail way in a theological way . The Old testament is clear about the Messiah . Messiah has to be God in the Old testament . a) The Messiah is from the Ancient of days . “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel,whose origins are from of old,from ancient times.” (Micah 5:2) “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. (Daniel 7:13) b) The Child going to born is called as "Mighty God " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) c) Jesus is portrayed as a Saviour in many places in the New testament . But God says : I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. (Isaiah 43:11) Messiah is going to be a saviour . If Jesus is Saviour he's god because there's no other Saviour besides God . 2. Jesus claimed that he was existed before . a)Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) b) “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58) 3) Even we don't believe Son of God means literal biological son of God . 4) It's historically Realiable that Jesus was crucified on the cross . History doesn't say that "He died for our sins and all " Historian doesn't mention all those theologically but the Gospels mention in detail . Christ Crucifixion is the historically valid and that disproves Islam . 5) why does the History mentions his thoughts ? Lol How does the historian knows his personal thoughts ? Did the historian interviewed jesus about his thoughts? Jesus was born to a Virgin according the prophecy . 6) the word "Buried"when he said doesn't mean he was buried under the groud . At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. (John 19:41) Why was jesus crucifed ,Ehrman says He was crucified because he claimed to be king . That's not the actual reason infact they were waiting for the King . He was crucified because he claimed to be God . “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” (John 10:33) For example , did Historians said about Muhammed fully about him ? Yes he said according the lens of a historians. I'm not arguing that. History does speak of a person as long as there viable evidence for it. History does not talk about theology. So anything miraculous is not considered as evidence but still recorded. "Messiah has to be God in the Old testament"? According to Judaism, No.. according to Christianity, Yes. Look.. I understand your position but I am not talking about what you and I think.. we are here just to discuss the video. So I am just going to look at which of that are related ok. Clause (3) but you still considered the term son of God as literally son of a God, biological or otherwise supernatural, rather than treating it as a term of endearment. Clause (4) I gave Christians points for this. But just for clarification the Quran specifically said "But they neither killed nor crucified him-it was only made to appear so." Keyword "made to appear so".. so we didn't deny someone DID die on the cross, but the Quran explain it was made to resemble him (Jesus) to them. So like you said, historians only take the account someone did die and many said it was Jesus. Historian does not take account any magical ilusions or clones or incidents. Clause (5) Historian can assumed what historical figures think but not always precisely. They collect all the information related to that figure behaviour and routine then deduce a conclusion like a psychologist. Again, I said what Bart said not what Jesus actually said. Clause (6) so according to the verse you refer to me, there is no word "buried" ever used? So Bart has made a mistake. Then again, I gave points according to what Bart said in my original statement. But yeah, Bart got it wrong there. Bart concluded that Jesus claimed to be king because it is one of the many meaning of the Messiah. But you saying he claim to be God does not matter to me, Jesus according to Christianity altogether was brought to be crucified. Yes we do have a biography of prophet Muhammad PBUH called the Sira. Compiled by historians. Like I said, anything miraculous is not considered as evidence but still recorded. History just means story with evidence like manuscripts. And yes they mentioned the date and place the prophet received his revelation, but that does not mean they believe in them. I think you mistook my point system as a way to falsify Christianity. I made it because of the circulating comments that Bart said mostly negative things on Islamic perspective. I was trying to prove that like 8 or 9 out 10, what he said was actually in agreement with muslim.

His level of skepticism/scrutiny over one compared to the other is odd considering the lines between 2 contradictory things like “I exist” and “I do not exist” are much less blurred than “good and evil”, yet he was able to take a firm enough stance on the latter to lose belief in God. If he was still a christian I could see the motive to try to and argue against the law of non contradiction, but considering he left the faith his double standard here is strange.

He agrees that Matthew, Mark and Luke are similar yet distinct but not necessarily CONTRADICTORY! Bart Ethman also said that....the crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ are historically correct. Why is Bart Ethman not a Christian today? Him saying that a gospel writer (whom he also says are unknown and pseudonymous) making the claim that Jesus claimed to be God isn’t the same as saying the historical Jesus claimed to be God. The Quran’s view on the crucifixion is very clear. The Quran states the following: “And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah's messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.” 4:157 The verse clearly states that it appeared to them that they had indeed crucified him, therefore it makes sense that there is a historical claim that Jesus was crucified. Given that there is a historical claim of crucifixion, a naturalist historian like Ehrman will obviously accept that. He doesn’t believe in the supernatural, he doesn’t believe in revelation and he doesn’t believe in God. So it makes perfect sense that he’d just go with the naturalist explanation of the historical claim of crucifixion being what actually happened rather than the Muslim claim of God intervening and the supernatural occurrence of the messiah being saved (which btw is very clearly prophesied in the Old Testament). You really think Hijab doesn’t know this? You think he brought Ehrman on to proof Islam’s view on the crucifixion? How about instead of making silly claims you instead focus on where a naturalist historian like Ehrman’s views do line up with the Quran. That the Bible has undoubtedly been corrupted, edited and that the originals are no longer extant, that the authors are unknown men with pseudonyms and the avalanche of evidence against biblical inerrancy that almost every single biblical scholar attests to. It’s funny how most Christians in the comments (the vast majority of whom believe in biblical innerancy) ignore this and instead focus on some straw man argument that wasn’t even being made.

And obviously what Ehrman believes without proof about Jesus does not change what Ehrman knows based on the proof he got. So Ehrman “believes” that Jesus did not consider himself a divine being, but Ehrman “knows” from the evidence he has that Jesus was crucified and that he was buried. That logically proves nothing about what Jesus was or what he thought he was, but it proves from the evidence that Mohammed got it wrong which makes Mohammed’s Quran wrong. The difference being in what Ehrman believes which is pure speculation compare to what he knows based on the evidence he has. So did you not listen to what Ehrman says from 12:20 onwards or did you not understand what he said? You say that the Quran view on the crucifixion is very clear. I fully agree with you on that. And that of course proves that the Quran is false which means it is not from God which means that Mohammed was a false prophet and a liar. By implication this is exactly what Ehrman states as well. And the “it appeared to them” means that Mohammed is calling God a liar which again proves that Mohammed was never a prophet of our Almighty God of the Bible because our Almighty God does not lie. And of course we have have dozen of eye-witnesses who saw that Jesus died on the cross and we only have Mohammed 600 years after the event who says something different. Now why would anyone believe what an obvious liar said 600 years after an event happened? Of course Hijab knows this but you really think he can give up his position on Islam? You say the Bible has been corrupted according to Ehrman. Please show me the evidence where Ehrman states that the theology (ie what the Bible teaches) has been corrupted? You say that the Bible has been corrupted. In Surah 3:3 we read that the Torah and the Gospel which are the two major parts of the Bible were revealed by God which makes them the Word of God as that is how God reveals. And in Surah 6:115 we read that none can change the Word of God. So if as you claim the Bible has been corrupted then logically you are admitting that the Quran must be false. So tell me why do you follow a book that according to you must be false? And do explain which one of the many different Arabic Qurans we can buy you follow? And why that Quran? As we can all read in the Qurans (plural) that Mohammed claimed that his allah would guard, yet the many different Arabic Qurans we can buy clearly show that the Quran has been corrupted. So who is the liar here? Was Mohammed or was it his allah? Or is Mohammed’s allah so weak that he cannot keep his promise about guarding his Quran? And do tell us all, why do you believe that following Mohammed will get anyone to heaven?

With that same logic you could say that the Christian perspective of Moses is irrelevant to “facts”, if Christians want to use the Bible when the Torah came before it. The Qur’an was the last and final succession of the holy Abrahamic scriptures, following the corruption of the text in the Torah and Bible due to human tampering. There’s many statistical facts that retain the maxim that the Qur’an has never been untampered and retains god’s messages. Feel free to reply if you’d like more info.

@@maur_sault750 Historical studies shows there were indeed christians around very early on that denied the pauline idea of a crucified Messiah, negating the novel idea the prophet of Islam was the first one to invent the belief, those christians were in sufficient numbers for worried church fathers to bother writing refutation against them, it seems from the way paul writes about his opponents, they too denied the actual death and rising from the dead, pauls calls them foolis for casting doubts on Jesus clearly being portrayed as crucified, (Galatians 3:1) But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is worthless, and so is your faith.… 1 Co 15:14:15

Just like Yasir quadir and Muhammed Hijab did to the Qur'an. Bart Ehrmaan did deconstruct Islam in this discussion. He stated that Jesus was crucified contrary to what the Qur'an states. Ehrmaan destroyed Islam preservation argument by stating that a book that has no contradiction or preserved it's from God. He said that the virgin birth is not true. He said that he doesn't believe in a God that doesn't intervene in human suffering, in fact he rubbished all of Muhammed hijabs argument. He gave example of quantum mechanics, demonstrating that two things can contradict and still be true (law of non contradiction). He destroyed totally in this discussion.

Bart is a massive Bible scholar, yet when comes to Islam he has BRAIN FREEZE like most intellectuals. 1st, when he realised the Bible has mistakes, he declares atheism, to end the discussion. He claims, because there's suffering in the world, God can't exist, yet he was happy for his God to gruesomely sacrifice his apparently only son for the sake of non-family members. Can't have it both ways. 2nd, he downgrades the bible, by declaring mistakes don't matter, because gospel authors were just spinning yarns with a moral message. So they are no different to any other pagan myths. 3rd, Bart foolishly denies that perfection is criteria for proof of divine revelation. His "Who are we to say what criteria...?" is an argument amongst men. Perfection is irrefutably a distinct attribute of God alone. I think he needs to man up and face it- the Quran is the truth he is seeks.

I don't think Ehrman "destroyed" anything or even intended to. He's speaking the language of historical, scientifically-driven research; he leaves theology to others. He shows over and over the folly of resting your theological beliefs on historically valid truth or principles (which derive from logic and scientific data). Historical, material reality and spiritual reality (obtained through experiences beyond logic and language) require 2 different vocabularies for the 2 different realities we find ourselves immersed in, and we get lost when we confuse the two.

I want to draw your attention to some quotes of a book, good one, that criticized some of Bart's notions he gave in this video, its name is "The breakthrough of a mind" 1. Bart's idea: 23:50-24:43,, I refer to 28:29-57:30 (from the audiobook of "breakthrough of a mind", which is available in "Haitham Talaat English" KZbin channel), which was titled by: (Answering the claim that there can be no certainty). And Mohammad Hijab commented on that in 34:21-35:00 (which is little similar to the perspective that book dealt with that idea, but the book's way is way too much deeper). 2. Bart's idea: 32:53-33:09,, I refer to20:19-26:38, which is titled by: (The difference between natural disposition or intuition, and primitive perception of things). 3. Bart's idea: 33:09-33:17,, I refer to 7:12:47-7:14:29 This is the sixteenth question in a list of questions and their answers, in chapter 6 (Post-evidence phase Various philosophical and religious questions), the sixteenth question is: (If God’s capability is manifested in His creation, then where was His capability in eternity?) and I see that what was written there is very much related to what Bart D. According to the quran Jesus was not crucified, it only appeared to them, (that he was crucified) Nice try Satan. unfortunately all of history is clear.. And so is the bible. @H K Phooey if your view is not in line with history then you have a serious problem. For faith to be reasonable it needs to line up with all or atleast most of the available evidence. There is no good reason to believe that another was crucified, that's why you'll never find any historian making such a claim, unless the are Muslim of course.

Many people have already tried to prove that Quran has mistakes in it and al of them severely failed. You cannot find me a single discrepancy in the Quran. In the Bible, you can see that not one or two, a lot of mistakes. That proves that it has been corrupted.

Nice discussion but I did find it quite bizarre that Dr. Ehrman believes that the law of non-contradiction goes back only around 2,500 years to Aristotle. Surely, Aristotles teachers and their teachers (let alone the many civilisations before them) knew that complete contradictions were false. In fact, this law is so innate in humans that even babies seem to clearly recognise that getting what they want is not the same as being denied what they want. Imagine, an ancient people tens of thousands of years ago. Imagine two women among them both claiming to have given birth to a particular child in the town. Would it really be reasonable to imagine that the people at that time would be so illogical as to not notice such a clear cut contradiction? Perhaps, if I had lived at the time of Pharoah and claimed to be the Pharoah of Egypt too, he wouldn't yet be able to spot the contradiction. An interesting statement that I believe I heard from Sheikh Jafar Idris was that when someone says credibly claims something to be false, it must be because it goes against a truth that they know. If you are 30 years old and somebody ask you if you are 35, you would answer in the negative. Why? Because you automatically know that you being 35 contradicts the truth that you already know (that your age is 30). It is inconceivable that human beings at one point communicated with each other and had functioning societies without being able to recognise contradictions as false. In fact, I would include animals as possessors of this innate knowledge as even they are able to think rationally and process information.

and also if you noticed, he strawmanned hijabs point so subtly, i didnt notice initially, hijab was talking about internal contradictions, then when he replied he mentioned that quantum theory and then said that he would believe it also if he was a christian. which is not the same as what hijab said, ehrman here is talking about LOGICAL contradictions, how can a particle be at two places in the same time. he didnt refute hijabs point which was INTERNAL contradictions. so example is if i say a flying tree which breathes fire exists in the south pole in a book i wrote and then in the final chapter i say this exact flying tree exists in the same south pole. there would be no internal contradiction here, you might say it is a logical contradiction because it is impossible a tree can fly and breathe fire, however irregardless of this, this is not an internal contradiction because my account of it was the same thru out. however if i say a cat called kite exists in nigeria than i go on to say it exists in nepal next time, altho this is logically acceptable, there is an internal contradiction within this statement. so ehrman equivocated the two fallaciously. And the Glorious Quran contains no contradictions at all, logical or internal or scientific or any kind.

19:10 - "When David went into the temple . . . " Um, no. The temple was not built till later; David never saw the temple. Likewise regarding Abiathar and his father Ahimelech: it was stipulated in Mosaic Law (Leviticus 21) that a priest could be disqualified by suffering certain kinds of injury, yet still partake in some priestly duties. Abiathar simply being on the scene in I Samuel 21 does not automatically make him the acting high priest at the time, simple the senior priest. This is just one way to resolve the dispute that, sadly, led to Ehrman's loss of faith. I pray that he gets it back.

He was just saying according to the History , History doesn't speak much about a person specifically in detail but it depends upon the historian who writes it - He wrote what he believes about him . And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6) c) Jesus is portrayed as a Saviour in many places in the New testament . But God says : I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. (Isaiah 43:11) Messiah is going to be a saviour . If Jesus is Saviour he's god because there's no other Saviour besides God . 2. Jesus claimed that he was existed before . a)Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. (John 17:3) b) “Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58) 3) Even we don't believe Son of God means literal biological son of God . 4) It's historically Realiable that Jesus was crucified on the cross . History doesn't say that "He died for our sins and all " Historian doesn't mention all those theologically but the Gospels mention in detail . Christ Crucifixion is the historically valid and that disproves Islam . 5) why does the History mentions his thoughts ? Lol How does the historian knows his personal thoughts ? Did the historian interviewed jesus about his thoughts? Jesus was born to a Virgin according the prophecy . 6) the word "Buried"when he said doesn't mean he was buried under the groud . At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. (John 19:41) Why was jesus crucifed ,Ehrman says He was crucified because he claimed to be king . That's not the actual reason infact they were waiting for the King . Did they say Muhammad received Revelation from allah ? No write , then why do you believe? Historians only write what they know and what they believe about that particular person , Understand? Historian writes historically not theologically.

Old testament is explicitly clear that: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19) I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger, I will not return to destroy Ephraim: for I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee: and I will not enter into the city.(Hosea 11:9) And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.(Luke 23:2) Yes he was crucified for being having claimed to be king and its in the bible. Offcourse God is not always a Man.But He can reveal himself as a Man. a) God revealed himself as a Man to wrestle with Jacob . 28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” 29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.” (Genesis 32:28-30) b) God walks as a Man And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. (This is for Christians) It's both funny & ironic and hypocritical how some Christians are stuck on the part where the x-christian bart said "I believe he was crucified" but they ignore the fact that he said the bible is changed, edited (corrupted) which agrees with the Qur'anic view and this alone is sufficient to reject the bible's narrative, and they ignore where he said jesus didn't believe he was God which also agrees with the Qur'an and they ignore where he said jesus wasn't born of a virgin which contradicts the bible more since it's central based on jesus and they also ignore that bart does not believe in jesus's miracles thus he doesn't believe in the biblical narrative that jesus rose up in the 3rd day lol! So one question to the Christians if that's all what triggered you is bart "believing" in the crucifixion despite we also believe it took place but it was made to appear to them as if it was jesus.. so do you really think bart believes jesus rose up from the death after three days yes or no? Do you believe bart for saying jesus didn't believe he was God? Do you believe bart for saying jesus didn't perform any miracles? Do you believe bart for saying jesus wasn't born of a virgin? And most importantly do you believe in Bart's work and views that he said the bible was changed (corrupted) which will debunk everything written on it even the crucifixion itself!? The Quran does nothing but love the Bible, it copies its stories, it even copies the apocrypha that Christians reject. Muhammad even put the Torah on a cushion and said i believe in he who revealed you. These Muslims keep referring to some kind of 'phantom Torah and Injeel' which they cannot prove exists. According to Bart the way we study history is that you look at all the sources available to you and there are roughly 10 sources for the Gospels there are also outside sources of the Bible which say Jesus was crucified, Therefor it must be true and when something that comes along later (the Quran) and contradicts it (he was not crucified) then that source is plainly false. Why dont you use your own standard for 'corruption'? why dont you use your own histoical method for 'corruption? you wont dare, you would not dream of it The Crucifixion is HISTIRCAL FACT thats what Bart is saying he also said he was DEAD AND BURIED you missed that part didnt you, not that he was 'made to appear' or that he was 'caught up to heaven' . Bart Ehrman makes it clear that he is making historical statements only. He is not writing theological texts or making theological arguments. When the two are mixed, the world has unresolvable conflict. If a person needs for statements about Jesus or anyone else to be literally true to believe in their theology, they are caught in a confusion of 2 different languages making 2 different claims about reality. Ex.: Do I believe Jesus literally, factually, materially rose from the dead? No. Do I believe in the "truth" of the story? Yes, absolutely. I have theological "beliefs" about spiritual reality which do not rely on "scientific" facts about material reality.

The Qur'an speaks highly of the injeel which was the original revelation for the Messiah, not the "many" gospels that you have in your hands nowadays! And the Qur'an does not copy anything from the bible lol it was God himself who was bringing back the original stories and corrects some of the misinformation that were caused by corruption of the lying pens as the bible states too, also if the prophet copied it h wouldn't reject the crucifixion or other beliefs such as the son of god and so on if his intentions were to bring people to islam he would have copied everything even the errorsand contradictions, but no, it was a Revelation from God. And the same apocrypha you're talking about has some stories which are included in other synoptic gospels now does that make them copying the apocrypha too? So that does not mean we believe everything said in it. That means you must present an original to prove its corrupted you cannot just like you cannot prove the Quran came from one original source....Muhammad History is based on sources thats all we ever know about history, the very fact the Quran says Jesus was not crucified how can you trust it since prior UNBIBLICAL (meaning non bias) sources say he was, that means Jesus' freinds and his enimies said he was crucified and died and was buried, Islam simply pretends to be his friend and says he was not crucified. The point is that you said Bart said 'he BELIEVES' (when he also said he thinks) he was crucified but then......I said YOU did not point out that he also said he was 'DEAD AND BURIED' ... this is where you lose this is why Bart AND Christians laugh at Islam and your mere human prophet
