People who have been abused in childhood and teen years tend to go for the same abuse as adults because it's all they know and they don't think they deserve better. Luckily, nowadays people are more in touch with their mental health and can recognize easier that they need help and will probably seek therapy and get out of that pattern of abuse. And let's not blame these women and men who choose abusive relationships, it's not their fault.
