After what i have learned going throigh bypass surgery. Personal experience and research while healing. I am astonished that the majority of surgeons still use sternal wires.

Stainless steel wire as a closure device is 30 years old? Good gravy doc, when they cracked my Mom's chest in 1958 they used stainless steel wire to close the sternum. From a patient looking at a sternotomy in a few weeks, this is exciting stuff. Will definitely discuss the availability of plates as a closure device with my surgeon.
