I just did an experiment outside on compacted snow in Edmonton at -8 ° C. I put a regular Doc on the left foot, a wintogrip on the right. I could noticeably tell that the wintogrip had more traction on compact snow. For physics nerds, the coefficient of friction is higher for wintogrip because it is made of softer material. I slid less as I scuffed my feet. You would need an engineer to prove it in a lab, but from this simple test I could tell the difference

@@Fodaysway Looks like it is the 1460 SR. Says slip resistant on the bottom. Made 2019 I think. A section of the sole is a brown colour, not transparent, with little treads that almost look like union jacks

What about the normal 1460? I'm thinking about buying normal one (My country didn't have winter grip) to a Japan trip, which will have a snow, will the normal 1460 be a good choice for this situation?

I do not recommend it… you can try to waterproof the docs before you go so it can protect the leather from the snow… also remember you’ll probably be breaking in your docs which can be an uncomfortable experience.

I have a question. I just used the wonder baslam from dm to treat my winter boots. However, I’ve seen people say that you shouldn’t. Did I ruin them? Also, great video!

Wonder baslam is good for most docs.. which one type of dr martens did you get?

@ I bought the 1460 Pascal DM’s wintergrip. They are shown in the video at 0:08 and 3:42.

Is the leather waterproof? May I wear them when raining?

The wintergrips are water-resistant leather.. you can wear both of them in the rain.. the regular 1460 are not too good for too much rain

how about sizing? is there a significant difference between the original and wintergrip version? I am a half size and i sized down with the original/normal ones, but since i have wide feet i'm thinking if i should size up for wintergrip?
