There was not one woman in this world that could growl with the depth and power of Twinkie Clark, starting in the 70s. Take a listen, and remind yourself, this is without the help of a sound system and microphone. @19:55 🤯 I hope these new generation Clark Sisters fans can see and hear the originator of so many things today that singers are doing-things Twinkie was doing close to 50 years ago. People really don't understand fully why she's known as the mother of contemporary gospel music. Twinkie had not just a sound, in terms of tone, but she had an anointing that was unmatched. One of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark's biggest fears was that Twinkie would cross over and start not just writing, but also singing secular music because her approach to music was unheard of in that day. Even though the Church of God in Christ called her music and style of the devil and gave her pure hell to change it, Twinkie still remained true and faithful to God. This is why I would never let anyone disrespect this woman's legacy. Yes, Twinkie is a multimillionaire, but can you imagine the wealth, riches, and fame she would have if she had crossed over? Women in those days were seen and not heard, so imagine Twinkie Clark not just being the female Stevie Wonder but also the female Quincy Jones of the world of music, not just limited to gospel. The sacrifices this woman has made for her faith are unheard of, and I believe that's why God could trust her with such a gift and talent, because He knew she would stay true to her calling. The one and only, the mother of contemporary gospel music... Dr. Twinkie Clark. SN: Twinkie had to have the strict and perfectionist mother that she had, or I promise you we would not know the Twinkie Clark that we know, love, respect, and have reverence for today. Dr. Mattie Moss Clark brought something out of Twinkie at a time that nobody but her and God saw, and this is why she invested so much into her. I believe every time she looked at Twinkie, she thought, "I'm looking at my legacy, and if I want my legacy secured, I better birth out of her that which is lying dormant," just as Karen Clark Sheard has and is doing with Kierra Sheard. I promise you Twinkie never saw herself as a genius, and if you listen to her conversations today, she still doesn't see herself as her mother saw in her, and today we are enjoying the fruits of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark's labor. #MyFavTwinkie
@Dahverin-kk4on2 ай бұрын
Everything that you said is true....she doesn't see herself as a genius...that's a good thing because pride is a deadly thing. That's also why she isn't as known for her talents as she should be. She doesn't brag on herself. It's rare to see a humble genius in Gospel

Twinkie is truly humbled and knows where her gifts come from. I would like you to note while Mattie ways is the reason we have the genius in Twinkie but it also caused great harm.
@MichaelHines-sl3tx2 ай бұрын
You are the sunshine was considered to he cross over. Her fears were well founded. I watched a vid and Dorinda talked about how the money started pouring in. But ad the bible said people stop worshipping the creator and worship the creator. If the church was against it then they disobeyed the teachings
@WhitneyTheGreatest2 ай бұрын
@@ClarkFan662 Mattie was flawed, but how exactly did she cause Twinkie "great harm?" If anything, Twinkie selling her songs for a Lincoln, signing a deal with a snake, and running off with John Terrell was the catalyst for most of her problems. If she listened to Mattie she would not have went through any of that. That's why obedience is better than sacrifice. According to the movie, the same snake that robbed Twinkie also tried to get Karen too - but she told her mom aka wise counsel.
