the lack of interactivity makes this feel retro in a way that appeals to me. Also the subject matter and setting design too I guess. like getting exposition thru like papers, characters talking etc feels tedious to me as I grow older. I'd much rather come to my own conclusions from paying attn to things that aren't as overt.

hey! as someone with ADHD, if stimulants like caffeine don't seem to do much, or even relax you, you might wanna look into ADHD yourself. that's like one of the most obvious neurological differences people with ADHD have! it's also important to note that the "hyperactivity" part of ADHD doesn't necessarily mean physical- oftentimes, it's the brain itself that's hyperactive instead. seriously as someone who spent my entire life going, "idk why people even drink coffee, it doesn't do anything for me, but without it i can't focus on any tasks whatsoever so i just sit around spinning in circles" it's worth at LEAST checking out

I would love to see the whole thing. I actually might buy it just because of this playthrough, it looks pretty fun and quirky. I wasn't really feeling it from the trailers, it felt like it was not going to be a horror game at all, and it still isn't, but from these videos, it looks like a kind of fun and weird action game, at least.
@Emily-xk2duАй бұрын
The over-the-top way these characters talk, like with all the dramatic trailing off and especially Night Owl being so overly formal (like with his "maelstrom" comment that had John snorting), is honestly so so funny and good. Even better is John reacting to it and doing the voices for them, the Batman (or Dean Winchester ig, considering all the monster-hunting) growl he was doing for the cool (dweeby) motorcycle pretty boy doctor was great (and John's Random British Guy impression had me cackling). Also "Horsea, use Water Gun!" (those seahorse-headed Slitterheads... I don't understand why they picked such a funny looking Slitterhead for the serious moment, I guess they figured it looked "cuter"/more endearing?) and John's laugh at 1:27:50 when he realizes the kind of "cool" sequence he was about to see were great silly moments.

I picked this game up after John's first video and I had a blast from the start to the end. It's definitely not for everyone, but it feels like a cult classic PS2 or PS3 game from another dimension that got released in 2024. I expected some kind of action survival horror game but ended up with Anime Time Blood Ghost Power Rangers vs Demon Parasite Bugs with low level Dragon Ball powers Also about the Mind Hack skill, you don't need to hold it at all. Holding it only shows you exactly the radius that you'll be affecting, but releasing the button is what actually activates the skill.

Heya John! I’m loving this play through. It’s very entertaining from my viewing. It feels refreshing in a strange way. The wacky flavor of Japanese games mixed with horror is making for the best of both worlds for me. Not to mention your voice acting for the characters bringing them to life as a motley band. And I agree the rpg mechanics are compelling as I’m eager to see another scenario after another for your characters growing in strength. If you don’t wanna continue that’s totally fine cool. And it’s a good excuse for me to pick up the game myself. If I don’t pick it up soon just so I can try every scenario. Always happy to join you for every game John

@MiggetyMattR2 ай бұрын
@@mOjoTho melee is definitely a bit rough but it's surprisingly satisfying, it has a very Dark Souls approach of waiting for the enemy to attack, blocking or dodging their attack, and then retaliating. While I'm playing this game it almost feels like a turn-based game happening in real time lol. Some enemies are a bit hard but you can absolutely learn the animations and when to dodge.

The team of mask-wearing humans with special abilities that you level up to fight monsters that are invading the city is more and more giving me "super-hero team game". Especially with the parkouring like Spider Man, comparisons to X 23/Wolverine, and the scene where the guy stops the car and fights the soldiers. The human soldiers trying to capture them and calling them all monsters is giving me X-men vibes, too. I think it's a very interesting take on this style of game, it's just not what I would have expected if someone told me the maker of Siren made a new monster game. A criticism is that the pacing of the conversation scenes between action sequences feels slow. I'm interested in the lore and the story, so I wouldn't skip them, but something about clicking through text while the camera drifts around over a hazy image makes them feel like a slog. I guess they wanted to save money on voice acting or something, but I really wish those parts had in game voice acting. It would make them more engaging, I think.

If it wasn't for John, I'd refuse to watch any LP. The action feels really slow, unsatisfying and then the protagonist interacting with the rarities puts it at a grinding halt. The enemy design is not good, there's nothing unique or intresting about them, even the attacks are dull. Lastly we're introduced to 3 charaters already and I don't care about any of them. They don't feel to have any impact, if 2 were perma killed it doesn't seem to have any effect story or emotional wise.
