One thing good that came out of this turmoil is that I've learned a lot about national debt, debt restructuring, credit ratings and rating agencies, issues with SOEs and Sovereign Bonds. Thank you so much!

What a distinguished gentleman. Srilanka should have advisers like him in the government. What an unfortunate situation. No wonder the country is spiraling down like this

In hindsight, wise counsel from Dr De Mel should have been heeded by the government.

1st of all these, SL Govt must solve our ethnic problem, fully implement the 13A law, and conduct PC elections in N&E. If SL Govt keeps ingoring & discriminating minority Tamils, whatelse happen

First and foremost, this educated person seems to have not still heard about the Global Pandemic. It is obvious what his real objectives were. But we must give such people too a chance to talk so that we could discover wolf in a Lion's cloth exposing their hidden agenda. The good thing is that Sri Lanka is blessed with enough true, genuine and patriotic intellectuals who are ready to serve our motherland despite all destructive efforts by people with wested interests.

5 star hotels are using firewood, fuel shortage is increasing power cuts, which will impact production and cost of production, harvests have gone down causing anxiety around food shortages… his point of default is you default and restructure.. to help your citizens eat food and produce so that we can pay our debts sustainabily. Current borrowing a few millions from here and there is not doing any help to paying long term loans.

Incompetent Nandasena cannot hide behind pandemic. Under his watch country is moving in the wrong direction, resulting Crisis filled two years and unbearable hardships to the people. Nandasena is a shrinking figure, voters questioning his capabilities and loosing faith in his leadership. R’pakse cronies are trying hard to coverup their dysfunctional political gambit .

This man is suggesting defaulting on our debts. This man must have been paid a good sum by vulture fund agents. A default suggested by this man would lead Sri Lanka into anarchy and it will be tremendously difficult to take a loan again. The fact that the likes of Harsha follows this man says a lot about opposition party.

Its the new fad. don't worry. These people have been saying for years that Sri Lanka will default every 6 months. Now the narrative is that we must default on our debt. It is hilarious.

Well you don’t have any other choice than to default the debt, the economy is crashing and in order for you not to go bankrupt defaulting is the only option available if you aren’t willing to go to the IMF
