The name of the diplomat was Ambassador Joseph Odero-Jowi. It is a pity that, (like Prof. Washington Jalang'o Okumu, the man who in 1994, brokered peace between Nelson Mandela and Zulu Leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi, thus paving way for South Africa's independence), he was more recognised abroad than back home. He was the Kenyan ambassador to the United Nations and is credited for the UNEP headquarters being located at Gigiri since 1972. Previously, he was briefly Minister of Economic Planning shortly after Tom Mboya's assassination. He taught former US president Barack Obama's dad at Maseno School. He used to live in Langata at the National Housing Corporation Estate opposite Langata Barracks.

It's true that Njoroge Mungai was related to Kenyatta Jomo. Mungai's mother was the sister of Jomo Kenyata, making Mungai, Kenyatta's nephew. Beth Mugo and Uhuru first cousins and their fathers are brothers.

It was Jemima Gecaga' son Udi Mereka Gecaga who married Kenyatta's daughter Jane and not vice versa. Jane Kenyatta is the mother of Jomo Gecaga.

Yes, the diplomat was Amb. Odero-Jowi. a brilliant economist. Tom Mboya was Minister for Economic Planning & Development when he was assassinated. Odero-Jowi was then given that potfolio to placate the Luos. But the Luo community, seething with bitterness about assassination of their ilustrious son, detested Odero-Jowi accepting to replace Tom Mboya. This move drew the ire of Luos against Odero-Jowi, who had but a short stint in Economic Planning docket and then sank into oblivion. In 1994 Odero-Jowi was our nieghbor at Mugoya Estate, Nairobi South C, a pale shadow of his former glory, going around asking for cigarette change. The luos probably cast a spell on him. So sad.

Dr.Mungai was my MP.His full name Mungai wa Njoroge.But he changed to Njoroge Mungai because he wanted Mungai to be his last official name.The Hospital is still called Kwa Mungai.Udi Gecaga son of BM Gecaga who was Chairman of BAT Kenya Imara Daima cigarettes married daughter of Jomo Kenyatta.Jemima Gecaga was wife to BM Gecaga and Dr Mungai sister

Great content, not many people know Dr. Muthiora who was an MP for Dagoretti constituency I believe. I know Dr Muthiora's family for many years since 1986, one brother Gitau who died in 2021 and two sisters Nimo and Njeri all who live in Washington USA. I went to the university with one of them so I know all of them including many cousins who live in USA.

Correction: At about 9 minutes, you situated Magana as being close to Limuru. That would be in another constituency. Magana is actually located between the Uthiru-Gitaru road, and the Dagoretti-Kikuyu road. Dr Mungai's home is visible to the right as one drives to Kikuyu from Dagoretti.

Now I have to look up who Dr. Muthiora was. Never heard of him. All I heard is that at the Banana hill meeting that led to Mboya's death, Dr. Njoroge chaired it. In attendance were Njonjo, Koinange, Rubia, Karume and other Kiambu Mafia patrons. Dr. Njoroge reportedly shot students in Kisumu at point blank range during the 1969 Odinga/Kenyatta fracas.

Again at the end you are saying that Dr Muthoria(PhD) was murdered on the same date as JM Kariuki, furthermore it seems as Kenyatta's daughter was given a seat for Dr Muthoria by his father(president's daughter). I think there is a bit of mixing of events on this tape and probably you would clarify for us. Your listener from Central Tanzania. Njonjo was very powerful during Mzee reign . His word was the law without any contest. Moi was also the vice President,and automatic successor to Jomo. Dr Mungai had a strong ambition to succeed Jomo and that created rivalry between Njonjo on one side and Moi on the other side. JM died in 1975 same year as the late Dr Muthiora .
