Dr Paul Irish on Aboriginal economic history

Aboriginal people traded food and resources and shared culture for many thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans in Australia.
In this video Dr Paul Irish describes these complex and extensive economies and commerce, how colonialism disrupted the lives of Aboriginal people and how they responded in a culturally informed way to new economic realities.
This video is based on the first chapter of a soon-to-be published book by NSW Treasury looking back at the economic history of NSW and the role of Treasury since it was established 200 years ago.
