"War on women. Most women over the age of 8 don't get enough protein. Plant based protein consumption makes it worse." - so true - at 30 mins
@resourcedragon6 жыл бұрын
It's been going on for a long time. In the old days (approx mid 20th C & earlier) the men got priority for meat. I've also seen people (even women themselves) claim that women need less protein per lb of body weight or whatever than men. How we are supposed to menstruate & not get anaemic if we're not getting enough meat I don't know. How we're supposed to bear healthy children without enough meat & animal products in our diets, I don't know. I definitely see adequate meat & animal products for women as a feminist issue.

@@resourcedragon I see it as a human-wide issue. There is no physiological sense in claiming people with much lower testosterone have less amino acid requirements than those who have much higher testosterone. The only reason higher T ever got more meat was to fight wars.

Steve Campbell that's better than the media -pushed message that we're evolving to a higher state of realisation that eating meat is immoral. However, I personally believe that we were created to eat meat.

Beliefs aside, paleoanthropologists have long been able to tell if ancient human remains came from someone who ate a plant-based or animal-based diet. How/ Because those on a plant-based diet were not as physically well developed. They were shorter, the bones less dense, and the jaw and teeth not as well developed, with more teeth missing and more cavities. Skulls with well developed bone structure and a full set of teeth in good condition came from hunting cultures... which morphed into herding cultures a lot longer ago than most people realize. Technology, such as stable isotope detection, are showing that our pre-historic ancestors were not just meat eaters, they were 'super carnivores' - eating not only herbivores, but also omnivores, and even other carnivores. What the general public does not know is that all the great apes, the larger primates including the species most like us, hunt and eat meat, except the gorilla. The gorilla has the smallest brain for body size of the large primates, and has a huge gut. Like ruminants, gorillas eat their food again... but in a less appealing way, in a practice known as coprophagy. Now we can tell the vegans who say we should all eat like gorilla to go eat s***.

You may enjoy 'Little Shop of Horrors? The Risks and Benefits of Eating Plants' by Dr. Georgia Ede and 'The Loss of Seasonality and the Overconsumption of Plants - Risking Oxalate Toxicity' by Sally Norton. It has been said that all plants contain toxins of some kind, in various amounts, especially the parts that plants most need to protect to survive. Some pruning by passing herbivores can be mutually beneficial, but eating the whole plant is another story.

Vegans have their own bubble; they're not going to come here, just like you don't set out to go looking for vegan-promoting videos. This is an unfortunate side effect of the way things like youtube work. Google knows what you like and they're going to serve you up things that are similar to the things you like unless you go out of your way to avoid it.

John Harvey Kellogg is also in large part responsible for the practice of male circumcision in America. Thanks heavens it never influenced Europe and most other countries. 87% of the male population remains intact. His reasoning was to prevent boys from masturbating. Fat in fatty foods like fried potatoes, cheese, fatty meats, pastries etc makes people fat, not starch, as evidenced by Aztecs, Gladiators, and millions of thin Chinese for millennia. If humans ate no more than three servings of organic, grass fed or wild caught animal food per week and unlimited whole plant foods for the rest of their meals, agribusiness (and their money is certainly not coming to middle America) would be poorer, but ours and the planet's health better. I wouldn't object to your ruminant theory if humans only ate as much animals as only eat grass, because you're right that humans can't eat grass. It's not for grass feed that ruminants get squished into feedlots/CAFOs with huge septic pools, it's to get fattened/finished. The fat they and their milk carry becomes the fat their eaters carry (including in the speaker's belly), unlike thin animals painted on cave walls. Inedible agricultural waste should be composted back into the soil not sent to a landfill (and that would help that water test you showed). The extra fat animals/milk have from finishing is fat NOT protein and does not contribute to protein intake. health.gov/dietaryguidelines/2015/guidelines/chapter-2/current-eating-patterns-in-the-united-states/

On slide 4 or 5 you quote (and agree with) a physician that “nutrition research does not support that vegetarian diets are healthier than animal based diets”. I disagree. The American Heart Association concludes on their website that “when considering eating less meat or giving it up entirely, benefits are clear: less risk of disease and improved health and well-being. Specifically, less meat decreases the risk of heart disease, stroke, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, Type 2 diabetes and many cancers.” www.heart.org/en/healthy-living/healthy-eating/eat-smart/nutrition-basics/how-does-plant-forward-eating-benefit-your-health. There is ample evidence that reducing or cutting meat entirely is good for health and longevity.
