Man this hit hard. I was 14 when diagnosed with Crohns. To see the compassion dr phil had for him, and his father there at the end. Made me sit back and think now as a parent and put myself in my parents shoes. It still must be hard on my mother to see her child still struggling with this disease. Thank you dr Phil

This is basically the entire mental healthcare system in the United States in a nutshell. It's all about medicating and operating. No concern for the reasoning behind why a person behaves as they do. I've met people who are on 20 different medications in their 20s... used to work at a mental health CRR program.

100%. I, myself, took upwards of 20 different pills while growing up because doctors just kept randomly diagnosing me with “mental disabilities” because I was a wild child. I was literally just a very rambunctious and curious kid that liked to do things boys do when they’re growing up

@@FREiZTV dr phil never made me cry before today. I empathize so much with all of your story, from being misdiagnosed, drugged, and abused by mental institutions, to my parents not knowing how to handle my outbursts, and also retreating into their own outbursts. It's inspiring for me to see how far you've come. Proud of you lil bro

It must be so satisfying to a psychologist when they see the emotional break through for a patient like “we did it. We got there”. If you’ve ever seen Good Will Hunting, it’s the same when Robin Williams character gets Matt Damon to cry and hug him. It’s like a win.

Man! this is so frustrating! I was 15 and a half when I started suffering severe stomach aches - it took me 6 months and a friend who caught me sobbing, thinking I might have a tumor to go to the doctor. he immediately knew what to check - it was Helicobacter pylori, which can cause stomach ulcers for the rest of my life. the first thing he asked me was - "who are you so angry at?" I thought he was joking, because I know him since I was a kid and he has some dry humor, but he told me he was serious. the next time, I already had to go to an adult's doctor, who told me to get off some foods. I have hardly had to go to a doctor since - only to the orthopaedic doctor - due to falling badly and to the gynecologist - to have my baby. both those doctors have changed my life to the better, unknowingly. I went on to a more natural and healthy way of eating (first thing off the list - dairy!!) and I started taking care of my emotional health. It has been 19 years since, and I'm still on my journey. our mental and physical health always go together, and it's even deeper then that.

I have Crohns and Lupus and was misdiagnosed with mental illnesses becsuse i was upset over being sick. That's not mental illness, that is a normal reaction 🤦♀️ the mental illness treatments made my health much worse, not better. I too tried to end my life until i finally got appropriate medical care and understanding doctors who didnt just throw drugs at me and insist i was just too stressed.
