I've been a viewer of Philip's for years now and he's always been so thoughtful, insightful and kind its always a joy to chat with him in the comments. I can't wait to read his books. Helps he and I have a lot of crossover in our tastes in Fantasy. Also, Philip and AP are *the* best Malazan duo! John, Malazan is awesome and from my experience the difficulty is greatly overblown. Challenging? Yes. Rewarding? Absolutely.

Interesting discussion about your fathers. That wasn’t my experience. I have no issues with my father, but he was just a regular guy. He was a good provider and was married to my mother 40 years, but he worked the second shift, I think on purpose as there were 5 kids, so we rarely saw him. He did have a large library even though he did not have a degree and was well read. He told me all about the Hobbit and LOTR when I was young, but he was drunk at the time also. He taught me chess, but then stopped playing with me soon after because he couldn’t beat me. I had kind of the opposite experience of Philip. I will definitely check out his books. Love his channel.

My father left the house when I was young so did not see enough of him either. For sure did not have the relationship I would’ve hoped for but still he loomed so large and carried such a mystique for me that he shaped me still. Fathers and sons always interesting. Thanks so much for sharing Shawn.

What I realized today while reading the Black Tongue Thief, is that the prose is purposefully playful from the first line to the darkest moments. It makes it impossible for this book to be truly grim dark!

He is English professor in medieval literature. Ad part of thriving fantasy , community on KZbin, he runs channel Philip chase or Philip chase best of fantasy dedicated to exploring fantasy genre . In addition to old English and old Norse . Influences that appear in his Edan trilogy include knowledge of Welsh time spent living in South Asia , where he learned Nepali. He lives now in New Jersey with his family . It’s great honor to be new subscriber to your channel dr Philip and I hope to learn a lot from your knowledge .

Three parts way of Edan , prophet of Edan , return of Edan . Way of Edan plot summary about kingdom of eternal will awaken when way of Edan holds sway over all of eormenlond . So say prophecies with unrivaled power in gift, supreme priest leads torrion and it mighty army kingdoms by sword by fang . Among gathering resistance is socteress sequara , whose mission is protect her island and her Andumaic faith from torronders aggression. As holy war looms over kingdoms of eormenlond . Chance encounter bestows terrible curse upon young man . Day raven curse may decide eormenlond fate . But first with help of unlikely friends , he must survive shattering of his sword .
