Well I only know I’m 8 months totally free of any kind of pornography. Thanks to SCA program. AA program. Intense phycho therapy. I’ve said no to compulsively grabbing the car keys and acting out on something that seems a part of me. For over 8 months. I know all of this is one day at a time. And I know contempt is my enemy. Willingness and vulnerability is my healer. Sex is deep needy dynamics. I’ve placed on an alter of worship far to long. I love all of us who are honestly searching. Humbly. Open minded.

So when is it sex addiction? Because my friend says he has it and he says it trauma which is on the driver’s seat. He gets afraid of intimacy OR he gets a craving & needs a quick fix (which usually means calling his neighbor as she is his enabler and always shows up). He calls it “abusing each other”. At the same time he glorifies sex toys, but when I confront him that it’s quite inappropriate to start talking about sex the moment you walk into a friend’s house, he feels regret, shame, guilt. He needs a lot of confirmation but gives zero in return. I have noticed he stays away, at the bathroom for a reaaally long time and is unable to keep long term friendships. He can ignore me for weeks or months and suddenly call me if he needs an “emotional shot of love” which I have started to refuse to give him, only to know he will call his next female friend whom will give him sexual gratification. I feel really bad for him. He is queer. But I am trying to find out which part of him is the addict. And if he can ever have a healthy relationship with someone. I don’t care he is attracted to male and female (so am I) nor that he is interested in sex toys (who cares). But I do feel sad that he is wants intimacy, connection and a long-term relationship & friendship and is unable to do so because “getting his fix” is more important to him. I hope he will find his way. He is a good guy.
