Robotnik actually had unique dialogue for whichever of the spray cans you pick up on your run through the Tutorial. For instance, when I picked green, he commented on Tails's obsession with certain green hills, like with Sonic.

@@jaypin88 Mhm! As contested as the game is at the moment, a lot of the stuff so far is pretty creative. There's also a challenging Special Stage for each of the first few cups that you can go through, but you need to win ALL the races in 1st Place in a cup or get enough points in a non-Easy difficulty to unlock it.

​@@picoultimate7707 Not exactly? I've heard the only requirement was getting 50 points on a non-Easy difficulty, and if each of the 5 races in a GP can give you twelve points, you could theoretically miss 1st on one race and still get 50.

​@@picoultimate7707You can be put into a Special Stage after ANY cup if you score well enough, though the requirement is actually pretty high. I hear ~85% of whatever is possible to achieve in a given cup (tracks may vary in lap count, and egg prison maps in egg prison count, resulting in different possible totals). I don't think you necessarily have to come first overall?- but it would certainly help to do so since placing first awards a better bonus, and you actually might have to place first overall anyway! But yeah the Special Stages just come up after whatever cup you qualify for them on, and you are always sent to the first one you haven't completed; e.g.: You complete Special Stage 1 off Cup 1, then play Cup 4 and qualify, you'll get Special Stage 2. If you fail that attempt and qualify again on say, Cup 6, you'll still be sent to Special Stage 2 because you haven't cleared it.

Very impressive. I love the look and sound of this. I will say that the 35 minute tutorial threw me out of it a little, but they did a good job of integrating it into the storyline.

As a note for the devs, the mandatory tutorial AT MOST should be a few little drills of common race interactions (using items, drifting, springs) then make the player do a single lap on a basic course. Keep it short and sweet. Leave this elaborate presentation to it's own story mode for players to actually want to play it and if you'd like, give those players extra skins and stuff. That would be a great balance between allowing ppl to immediately get into the game and rewarding those who play through your content.

This is why Nintendo pisses me off..Sega gave their BLESSINGS to the fan community to Sonic games..its amazing how its developed over the years and how new games have spawned from it (Jester and Freedom Planet 1 & 2) AND its why we have Sonic Mania..but Nah ..Nintendo has tons of FREE fan made games they do the most to consistently shutdown with Cease and Desist and then emulation scene takes a hit everytime Nintendo makes a move...AM2R is the best 2D metroid game next to Dread..and somehow..instead of seeing it as free publicity or hiring independent devs.. Something about this game just makes it feel fucking horrible to play and I can't put my finger on it. Winning feels like nothing but losing feels like getting kicked in the balls by Usain Bolt. The karts are so fucking slippery and fly all over the place. If you're anywhere near the absolute chaos of the pack, you'll get thrown 50 feet in 2 seconds and shot to last place, even if you were JUST in first. There are more fucking mechanics and controls than some fighting games. Why are there TWO types of item boxes and why do they look so similar? Why does there need to be a roulette gimmick alongside the normal item boxes? Why is the control layout so weird and unintuitive if you're used to any other racer ever released? It just feels like shit, no amount of patches can fix a game that's poorly designed at it's core.
