ഞാൻ കേരളത്തിലെ ഒരു ട്രഷറിയിൽ ഒരു ദിവസം മറ്റൊരു വകുപ്പിന്റെ ജോലി സംബന്ധമായി ഒരാവശ്യത്തിന് പോയി. ട്രഷറിയിൽ നിൽക്കുന്ന സമയം ഞാൻ ഫോൺ വിളിച്ച് എന്റെ പിതാവും അവിടെ വന്നു.ഒരു വർക്ക് ബില്ല് തിരിച്ചെടുക്കാൻ. ട്രഷറിയിൽ കയറി ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഓഫീസിലേക്ക് ഉള്ള ചെല്ലാനുകളും ബില്ല് കളും എടുക്കുന്ന സമയം ആ ബില്ലും ഞാൻ തപ്പി. അപ്പോൾ പുറത്ത് നിൽക്കുന്നത് എന്റെ ആരാണെന്ന് അറിയാത്ത ഒരു ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥൻ എന്നോട് പറഞ്ഞത് " പെട്ടെന്ന് എടുത്ത് കൊടുക്കണ്ട ഒരു മണിക്കൂർ കാത്തു നിൽക്കട്ടേ എന്ന്" . എത്രയും വേഗം ഫയലുകളുമായി പുറത്തിറങ്ങി പിതാവിന്റെത് ഏൽപ്പിച്ചു പോകാൻ നേരം ഞാൻ കുശലമായി കാര്യം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ വാപ്പിച്ചി എന്നോട് "ആഹാ , അവനെ കഴിഞ്ഞ തവണ കൈനീട്ടം കൊടുക്കാത്തോണ്ടാണ്". ഞാൻ ആ ക്യൂവിലേക്ക് ഒന്നു നോക്കി.. പെൻഷൻ വാങ്ങാൻ വന്ന വാർധക്യമായ കാർന്നോമ്മാരും അമ്മമാരും സ്ത്രീകളും എല്ലാം ഉണ്ട് ഊഴം കാത്തു. കഷ്ടം തോന്നി!
