I'm 42 and just started eating breakfast early again after years of skipping it. THank you Stacey Sims! I'm 5 foot 7, 120 pounds and eating breakfast hasn't effected my weight. I also started weight lifting again and getting my steps in. I now eat 3 meals a day with snacks and all is good so far, I feel satisfied and satiated.

Good conversation. Could you please address the same conversation for post menopausal women. I’m 69 and have been working out since I was 20 strength training and just started HRT six months ago. Can you talk about that please?

I would also like to hear about this, but for women who are post-menopausal but can't take supplementary hormones.

I am a 43 year old woman who works out. I listen to quite some podcasts on the subjects of glucose, caffeine, hormones, fasting, how oatmilk for example is just starch and highly processed, cleaner eating etc. I am a bit confused why you would say: Eat within 30 min after waking up? What about melatonine? What about trying not to intake caffeine within the first 1-2 hours after waking up? What about the big glucose spikes that just promote cravings during the day etc? Hopefully I get some answers later on in this podcast…😊

Great conversation providing a good source of information backed by research and primarily focused on women. Currently, a lot of information circulates on the internet and among experts. One can get confused and really not know what is best for us. After watching this conversation, I feel informed and know what is best for me.

So glad to hear Dr. Stacy Sims separate sense from the nonsense....taking into consideration the difference in sexes> Intermittent fasting etc.

This is so so good and thank you to both. Legit info especially being in premenopausal and craving to LHS. I'm no longer interested in weightloss/fatloss, and far more interested in building and keep muscle on my body now. And I absolutely loved my early 40s and excited for grow and unlearn, something about that feels rebellious! Thank you so so much 💗

My youtube feed fed me a thumbnail that said, "you don't need carbohydrate, its a myth." It was a woman pushing this. Was complete nonsense. Stacy Sims is my women's fitness guru. I workout harder and ate less and gained weight. For 6 months I followed Sims model of more strength and less cardio and focusing on getting enough protein and I lost weight but gained strength.

I really enjoyed this conversation . i a I’m going to try to introduce HIT, unfortunately Ive been listening to the Bro science dudes! I am 63 walk hills 4miles/day and weight train 4 days a week10-12 reps per set…should i shot for heavier 6-8 reps? I’m concerned about injury at my age…that will ruin my progress for sure. i torn my hamstring tendons..yes all 3 tendons…awful about 2 years ago in a biking accident so Im nervous!

Don't increase you weight all at once so your body adjusts to heavier shorter reps. Work your way up. Increase weight incrementally. Focus on quality over quantity. As for hill workouts. Try shorter more intense running sprints in middle of walk but only go for a 45 Minute walk. Still do your 4 miles walks but do it 2-3 days a week. Add the sprints or intense jump rope intervals. Try cutting your weights to 2-3 times a week to give your body more of a chance to recover. It's recovery that matters. With age weights 3 times a week may not give you enough recovery time. Stacy talks a lot about power and strength and less cardio. So try and mix up your workouts. Less cardio days more power like jumping, sprinting. I added the jumping to build bone strength that older women need.

I thinks it’s good to research multiple sources in relation to fasting protocols for women, Our bodies are highly intelligent, If we have enough stored glycogen and fat our body will burn through these fuels before it eats at our lean tissue. If our body fat is above 20% it has no reason to pick muscle over glycogen or fatty tissue. I don’t think fasting encourages us to become insulin resistant because fasting for 14+ hours keeps our blood sugar lower, that injunction with resistance training actually increases the chances of us holding onto our muscles. What we must be aware of is decreasing strength if we become weaker or unable to increase our resistance load/volume that’s a signal we need more calories from nutrient rich food. Fasting increases HGH (human growth hormone) and insulin when we eat helps with muscle gains. As we loose weight our lean tissue will shrink due to water loss but that doesn’t mean we have lost lean tissue, our metabolism will also adjust to our weight as we get leaner so fewer calories will be required that don’t mean our metabolism is slow it’s just done what we have trained it to do by consuming less energy. Many women have experienced positive results from fasting along with resistance training, they’re dexa scans reports have revealed fat loss and lean tissue increases so everyone is different there are so many factors involved, age, diet, activity, strength, medication, menopause, stress levels, health issues so it’s really important to look at all these factors before we rule out anything. 😊

Yogurt isn’t ideal if you can’t have dairy. Not all yogurt is created equal. Most store bought yogurt is full of sugar unless it’s plain.

intermittent fasting changed the game for me - gained 35 pounds during menopause in like 6 months was freaking crazy had been on acid meds for reflux for years and was insulin resistant - fat was all belly - I’m almost 3 years in and I fasted the first year 18/6 then went to typically 16/8 / I eat quality food targeting good macros. I dropped the weight the first year and stopped the acid meds within 6 months. I did start hormone replacement as well. / I’m focusing deliberately on strength training and continuing to understand the importance of my nutrition - the standard American diet is absolute garbage on every level.

This was terrific. I never heard of Stacy Sims. I just started following her. I'm 53 and usually do a 12 hr fast. I shoot for 90-100g protein/day. I'm 125lbs. I wake up hungry and always want & crave a challah roll when I get down to my kitchen. Is this bc I didn't have enough protein the day before? Ido if Stacy is looking at these comments but would love to know what she thinks. Subscribed to this channel. Thank you

you can have your challah bread, just add a protein source with it. 😊

@banjohole good point. I was wondering why I always crave a carb when I wake up. I think I need the protein more but craving the bread carb
@saskhiker3935Күн бұрын
If your an older woman your body has more trouble metablizing protein, so you need more protein. Try and shoot for 1 gram of protein per pound of your ideal body weight.

Why would an intelligent women as dr. Stacy Sim venture into demonizing carnivore way of eating when she obviously knows very little about. She even interchangeably says high protein diet and carnivore diet, which is wrong. I am one of those people whole inflammation markers went down for the first time in my adult life since i went forward witu a stric carnivore diet. My comment is not aiming to say everyone should eat this way but it would be great if people in health and wellness space were to know a bit more about something like this before doing silly blanket statements as - 'it wrecks your microbiome'.

She lives in mount manganui in New Zealand. It’s a surf destination. Possibly ocean swimming? Or beach running ? Or it is a racer back sports top and she has been weight training? Odd comment.

Why does she have bags under her eyes, ulsurs on her lips, lumps and deep wrinkles across the back of her shoulders. Why does she keep clutching her hands behind her back. So many questions. Why is her lighting so high. What is she trying to hide with it. Why is the tip of her nose so red like a drinker? Not as healthy as she likes to make out.
