Yes! The 1st 4 or 5 seasons were great, but the more they focused on Urkel and his clumsiness, wacky inventions, and off-beat humor, they lost their identity. It stopped being about the family and became more about Urkel. I get that he was a breakout star in the show, but his brilliance cast a shadow on his cast mates and it caused division and chaos behind the scenes. Case and point, Jo Marie Payton, who played Harriet, left before the 9th season b/c reportedly, her and Jaleel were about to fight behind the scenes.

I disagree. Majority of hispanic men aren't going out of their way to marry white and black women. They mostly stick with their own. Black men are obsessed with lighter complexion, straight hair, and non-black women. Family Matters is iconic. The difference between that show and the shows he compared it to is that Family Matters was more for families and all ages while the other shows were more “young adult” / “grown folk” geared, and therefore were more unapologetically black with tons of black cultural references and jokes. All of the shows were good, though.

It's possible since he's much older now but it would be a hard sell for any movie or series directors to cast him in other roles... Once you're typecast like an Adam Sandler, Kramer in Seinfeld among others you just have to ride that role till the wheels fall off..
