The tardis is supposed to look out of place, almost to the point of ridiculous. Yes it has a cartoonish look vs the organic nature of its surroundings, but given that it is an instrument of space/time, and its a police box in deep space, i think the dichotomy of the two different styles makes the picture and tells a story. The Doctor is chaotically flinging himself through existence... Whether that was the intent or not, the outcome is brilliant.

The clear coat spray paint is meant for correcting mistakes. Or so you can add to an the painting. Because I rewets the paint so that you can work with it again because spray paint drys fast. But if you want a finished product it is really cool to use the clear coat too for the whole painting to make it look really good.

@versatile3z22410 жыл бұрын
A lot of cutting is envolved but he usually sprays pretty fast bbut becase its a stencil that requires layers. He is not use to doing that so he took his time which is smart. It came out pretty good. I myself do the same thing. But he did a good job he is the one who inspired me to start spraypaint art and now im really beast at it.truthfully this takes a lot of patience and one mess up...u gotta start all over.

What type of spray cans do you use? Well paint,... and paper. It looks to glossy!
@FlyWithDelta10 жыл бұрын
these guys aren't wealthy, so I'm guessing low end paint. looks glossy because of all the coats and its not dry.
@angelsandfaes10 жыл бұрын
Glossy poster board (Matte soaks up to must paint and paint dries to fast the gloss prevents that and makes easier to lift the paint) and gloss paints. I use mostly rustoleum. Metallics can give a transparent look as can cheaper walmart gloss paints. Clear gloss sprayed on drying paint helps it stay wet longer so you can do more work. Hope that helps
@angelsandfaes10 жыл бұрын
Also there are more expensive paints and cheaper paints. Each may work a little differently than the others. I've just found rustoleum to be an okay cost range for me. The newer nozzles on them are different than the older but I've learned to adapt. But the nozzles on some cans are directional and are harder to use

The TARDIS seems too out of place, given the style. It's almost like a cartoon graphic photoshopped into place. Perhaps there is a stamping tool you could make, similar to how you lift and smudge the paint on the planets, to give it a more realistic wood-finish feel? Perhaps blend it in more with the space background by having its light sources (lantern/windows) give off a glow? Also, where are the light sources? While the planets have softer shadows and highlights in different directions, indicating multiple light sources, the TARDIS seems too crisply shaded on one side. As a final note, in the end you were speeding up, but the beam of light diagonally through the center seems less like an astronomical phenomenon than unblended lines of spray paint. Maybe a more organic shape to the galaxy-like stream would help. Over all, it's nice to see you reaching out and trying to build upon your pieces and make them more interesting. Keep painting and keep growing.
@lindahoffman531010 жыл бұрын
he made this as a special order.. it is exactly what we ordered.
@HoshiHikari10 жыл бұрын
Linda Hoffman I'm happy you like this piece. It IS a great piece. I'm speaking as an artist to an artist interested in self improvement. Unless you specifically requested that he contrast his usual style of ethereal realism with a stark T-shirt graphic-like focal point, and to not worry about how it is shaded or fitting it in with the negative space, I have nothing to take back. I am not questioning his marketability or customer satisfaction. I'm critiquing this as a work of art, whether it was made from his own inspiration or yours.
@IMakeYouChuckle10 жыл бұрын
HoshiHikari the Tardis or whatever is blue, let it go and go criticize our own artwork. seriously this is amazing.
@HoshiHikari10 жыл бұрын
Brooke Leombruno No shit the TARDIS is blue. Most artists I know appreciate critical feedback. Most people aren't apt to give it, much less care to take the time to give it. Let it go and let me be the exception. I'm not denying it's amazing.
@lindahoffman531010 жыл бұрын
