@@jennifer6833 he just found out about this amp... so I guess we will have to get him to plug into one...

@@jennifer6833 Brad already owns a Trainwreck Express amp, but this might be a good alternative to take on the road. Trainwreck amplifiers are going for upwards of $50K if you can even find one for sale.

I met Ken in 1988 and we became good friends, he was certainly one of a kind, from his twisted sense of humor, to his unparalleled knowledge... I learned everything I know about circuits, transformers, tubes, etc. from Ken. He always answered my questions... even when he was sick with that virus that he had all those years. I sure miss him. Regards

Thank You for the review. Very much appreciated the use of the looper to demonstrate the controls and their effects. All amplifier demonstrations should follow this format. Also of note, using a looper at home to dial in the tone you're looking for is a great way to better learn what your amplifier is capable of.

I'm dying to plug into one of these! I had a silver Z-Wreck back in 2012, and though it was absolutely heavenly, it was simply too much. This amp is my tone dream put into a 1-12" cab. The Comfort setting is where it's at; glad Z went with a 5Y3. Other points of interest: Looks like the Cut control is wired backwards as compared to your standard Vox Cut. I don't remember this being the case with the Z-Wreck or the Maz 18 I had before it. Also, Don has never unleashed like this in a demo before, at least not that I've ever seen. It's like we've been getting 10% Don this whole time and didn't even know it until he got his hands on this Jr. He about blew up KZbin with that surge of virtuosity, so maybe he's been holding it back as a public service; keeping the lid on it until we have the technology to properly contain his fretboard magnesium fire. Consider that Z-Wreck Jr. officially broken in!
@DrZAmplification4 жыл бұрын
Cut control works the same way as the MAZ and standard ZW, it adds "cut" to your guitar in the mix as you turn it up. I believe the vox control is wired the other way, as you turn the knob "up" it "cuts off high end." But I can't say for sure, it's been awhile.
@JohnPaulHare4 жыл бұрын
@@DrZAmplification yup, that's how it works. Tone knob that works in reverse of the tone control on a guitar--the more you turn it up , the more it tames the high end. Definitely useful when the amp is overdriving and you want to tame the harsh high frequencies a bit. Interesting how you wired it the other way around for the ZW, MAZ, and ZWJr., but the way it's labeled and how it works make sense, even though it's strange to people who are coming to Dr. Z from Vox.

@DrZAmplification4 жыл бұрын
Again, of the dozen or so Z Wreck Jr.'s that I have QA'd some measure 15 watts and many measure 18 watts. I decided to list the wattage at the lower average output on the website. A 5Y3 rectifier produces a lower plate voltage , that combined with wall voltage variation can cause slight differences in true measured RMS output. Believe me you would hard pressed to tell the difference with your ears between 15 and 18 watts total output.

I measured one at 17.325 watts and it sounds fine.
