Being a GBA game, there is no floating point here. If the game needs higher precision than whole numbers, it will use fixed-point numbers (sometimes mistakenly called "subpixels" by speedrunners who don't know better.) Because your player's position is stored in fixed point, you cannot move outside the range of the data type. And fixed-point almost universally has a lower range than integers - as some of that range is traded for extra precision after the decimal point. So SM64-style parallel universes wouldn't exist.

a similar thing happened with terraria recently with transmutation and its surrounding glitches. it didn't just break the game's progression, it completely tore apart the game's engine. building precise structures and manipulating item IDs through multiplayer glitches to spawn thousands of the most powerful items in the game easily. the discovery of transmutation reduced the any% time from around an hour to around 5 minutes, if i recall.

As a non-speedrunner, I'd like to say I LOVE glitches. It's one thing to see a game played normally, and sure it's really impressive seeing it played super well, but seeing the programming being pushed to its limits and still somehow holding together enough to still let the game be beatable is so cool! It's like the player and the game itself are really pushing themselves.

If I recall, Legend of Zelda OoT has one that allows you to point to your save file and the file name is just code to send you to the credits. It's probably one of the most powerful glitches you can find in a game.

Bipedal nuclear weapons' weakness being the humble box has been a staple since '87 when newly employed Hideo Kojima started his any% Konami run with Metal Gear. I might also highlight that way back then, long before it's recognition as a scientific field, Big Boss already eludes to the profound inner workings of closing the game, he's not even subtle about it either as he directly addresses the speedrunner. Lastly there's the Pluto + Black Dog combination, in hindsight a clear reference to Big Boss albeit obfuscated by the bipedal red herring known as Bear Tank as Big Boss and Pluto are both symbolised by the serpent, emphasised through Big Boss' deceptive nature and in donning the moniker Venom Snake; with the fall of MSF Big Boss would shed the iconographic connection to the underworld, their skull-shaped world logo, very similar to how Pluto sheds the name Hades which became the common term to describe the underworld, in favour for the Black Dog logo of the newly founded Diamond Dogs. The Diamond Dogs, clearly in reference to Pluto's conflation with Plutus, the God of Wealth, where known to carry about diamonds when dishing out the dealings of death, and upon the death of their own, from their caracoled remains, they'd press those very diamonds; this more positive narrative surrounding death in itself another reference to Pluto succeeding Hades, or rather Venom- succeeding Naked Snake. With all that said I can't help but wonder wether the humble yet mighty box, in some way, shape or form, might be related to the legendary Cap of Invisibility; as we all know headpieces are incredibly potent!
