The foot pegs were the first mod that I did when I bought my DR. It already had risers and bars. You wouldn’t think an inch and a half would be much of a difference but it is. I also rotated my shifter down a notch along with adjusting the brake pedal. Do we ever get done tweaking these things? Reminds me of what they call AR’s - “Barbie for men.” Glad you left out the potty mouth. We wouldn’t want our lovable OBI to feel threatened. 😁 As always, thanks for sharing.

Everything you said is so spot on Calvin. There are so many things you can do the DR, it is hard to help oneself not to. As far as the potty mouth, I would not want to encroach on OBI's territory LOL! Hope you are not getting snowed in up there in the mountains! Cheers Brother!

100% agree foot pegs are crazy expensive for the gucci versions. I have the Xitomers also but I used longer bolts so the holes dont hold mud and water inside leading to rust.

I got Vince Strang lowering plates and warp9 foot pegs. Uses the OEM foot peg mounts. My setup allowed the shifter and brake lever to remain mostly stock. If you lower too far it can stuff up the operation of shift lever and brake. 100% agree that it makes it a. Ore rideable bike - especially for long distance as it opens the leg up slightly.
@doc650adventures Жыл бұрын
The lowering plates work well also. I decided to go with the lower mounts as a personal preference ( and my height). The shifter and brake levers/ pedal are easy to adjust so the lower mounts work for me! Thanks for the comment! Cheers!

Wow, that was a considerable amount lowered, that would make a world of difference to a longer legged rider. I recently put a set of Pivot Pegz on my GS, they are nice for riding while standing but also it gave me more room to get my giant boot under the shifter. Always nice to be able to change gears in a timely manner. Looking forward to seeing more of the DR650 and also: I'm a new subscriber! 👊🍺

Thanks for subscribing! I subbed to you also! Spot on about lowered pegs for taller riders. I have been drooling a bit over the Pivot Pegs but the cost has kept me at bay. Nice video DOC650Adventures! Planning to do the same upgrade myself. Ordered the lowered foot pegs for the DR a year ago, just never got around to do it. Question though. Did you end up needing to use a longer spring for the rear break? Or is it a non-issue?
@doc650adventures2 жыл бұрын
Thank you HabLaz! It is a great upgrade that makes the DR650 a little easier to ride (especially on longer trips). It is an easy upgrade other that removal and installation of the cotter pin. As far as the spring on the rear brake lever, no need to get a new spring. One spring is used to return the lever back to its resting position and the smaller spring is to activate the brake light sensor. They will both be fine after the conversion. You might need to adjust the brake lever up a little to ensure there is full travel downward on the lever to fully use the rear brake. Looking forward to your video on this if you end up doing one! Cheers!
