Everyone is entitled to spend their money as they wish, and if they feel that the new gamepass it worth it for them then that's no issue. As you say, they probably should've expected this sort of reaction though - things have kicked off over far more minor things.

We were given some reasons by Zotto for the complaints. The summary is basically: - It unlocks new variants and any future ones that may come in the future - It helps the devs since (obvs.) it costs money to produce content at a scale like this - We're not required to buy the pass - And probably the main reason: They don't want too many long trains being driven in game as it would make things unrealistic, as well as prevent trolling that could disrupt the game. I understand these reasons, but I believe that having to spend 12 dollars (in my currency) is just too much in some given scenarios. In my opinion, they should've had it roofed around 600-800. It would be better if it's more lower. I do want to see occasional sales if they want to keep the current price point.

Yeah, these reasons from him are utter nonsense 1. The developers could gradually increase the price of the gamepass - of course, starting at a low price from originally - as more content is introduced and included with the pass. 2. While it's perfectly understandable that the devs need to earn profit from the game, releasing such an overpriced gamepass that essentially acts as a paywall for the entire update is more greed if anything. Like, Netflix needs to make profit, sure, but I'm not about to start watching ads - that's one of the main reasons we chose to use it in the first place, to avoid them. 3. "Just don't buy it." So, just don't enjoy the new major update? This argument is used way too commonly for how redundant it is. 4. How is it unrealistic to have many longer consists? 💀💀 LNER runs 9/10 coach sets practically all day with the exception of services, say to Aberdeen. Same with GWR

Another point that is often overlooked is that the only train that is actually given to you 100% free upon buying the gamepass is the Class 390, in order to drive any other train counted as a longer train, you need to first unlock the regular version, which ofcourse costs points and requires a considerable amount of time to achieve (therefore generating even more money for the developers from premium players) or a considerable amount of robux for those who want to just buy points and get instant access to the other train. So essentially, if you don't own any Class 80x, 22x or 397 trains, you are paying 10 quid for just one train with two variants, which doesn't represent good money for value at all in my opinion. For the same price, you could buy an entire route with multiple trains on Train Sim World 5 or Train Sim Classic.

Personally speaking, if they had told us from the get go that this would be a game pass, I think that the overall backlash wouldn't have been so bad, but it stemmed from the fact that A: the developers kept their mouths shut on the whole game pass idea until last minute, meaning it was pretty much totally out of the blue, and B: the sneak peeks generated so much hype to the point where they should have actually said that this was going to be a game pass from the get go. I'm aware the game pass, which was then listed 'WIP', was being floated around during the build up to the update, but it was never actually confirmed whether or not it would be a game pass or not. The developers should have known that this type of backlash was going to come, after all, we are talking about the SCR community here, and considering the communities past backlash on updates like 2.0, I'm very surprised to see that they didn't come out and say anything earlier. In terms of the actual game pass itself, I don't believe its worth buying, especially if you consider the short term investment, I'm sure in the long run it might be worth it, but when it comes to the game pass itself, it definitely doesn't make them look any better when it comes to competition, mainly because both BR and GCR offer longer trains at a smaller price tag, or no requirement to purchase robux (in GCR's case with game passes this was installed from the get-go, so it was received a lot better). So to conclude on my opinion, SCR's lack of communication to the community on the game pass idea was a contributing factor when it comes to the hate and negativity to the update, as well as the lack of changes and features included in the update that were catered to those without wallets or robux. I heard someone say something along the lines of ‘don’t buy something based on the promise of what it’s going to be, buy it for what it is now’, and I definitely think this applies here. No one knows what the gamepass may look like in the future, so for the people who are thinking of buying it with the hope that it’ll get better over time, it’s probably safest to wait until it offers more.

I think when it comes to talking about British Railway, people need to understand that the game is still fairly new (came out at the start of 2023) and its current player base is more mature and know that whining over a pass is plain stupid. Even with this, they didn't exploit this impression and introduced longer trains for free and custom consists way before SCR (which is the main reason why SCR players seem to be bending towards it. And that's why I dipped from SCR, it's just because of how the players react, and how age and maturity is a thing.

While we want SCR to keep everything accessible by points like British Railway and Sunshine Islands, we fear that SCR is turning into a paywall like Croydon, where you even need a subscription to join servers. As others in this comment section have said, there has been a LOT of backlash. I recently started my journey on British Railway, as I wanted to expand to more games to diversify my choice of games. Shortly after I did this however, SCR's V2.1 dropped; I was shocked to say the least. SCR hasn't used game passes since V1.0. BanTech and Charlie_RBX (back then) said they didn't have any intentions of re-adding them as well! Seeming as Charlie_RBX still worked on the game with the developers after the 2022 shenanigans, it makes me question whether he still actually works on the game or not. If he does, then I'd just say he's a traitor in a way, going against his own words. Admittedly V1.0 released a LONG time ago so it is understandable if he forgot, but it's still not right. I'm OK with the longer trains being a game pass, but at 1000 Robux it's made me question what SCR is actually trying to achieve nowadays: cash grabbing or entertainment? 1000 Robux is the equivalent to around £12! Twelve hard earned pounds! I can buy a Lego Class 08 Shunter for £12! In fact I think I might! If the game pass was in the region of 100-400 (£1.20-£5) I would be fine with this. I have told myself I'm not playing SCR until the pass is reduced in price, to at least 500r$. Absolute cash grab of a game.

Moderating SCR General for the past few days since the tire fire update has been nothing short of diabolical. I think its the fact that SCR never really had a gamepass before, atleast after V1.10, expect extra points which you never needed to get by paying robux, if gamepasses were always a thing in the game then tough luck, no one would be as angry, its the fact that they made such a choice after having so years without a single gamepass, aswell as never stating is was going to be a gamepass up its release, that has what gotten everyone so angry. This update is why I switched fully to BR, and ditch 4 years of progress on SCR.

Some depots get stuck on waiting for your train to spawn even though there are no trains at the depot. And if u buzz your guard too early it will glitch the game causing you to despawn.

As a 21-year-old that had the capacity to buy the gamepass, I thought the idea was good, it just was not the right time to release an update like this in the first place. For one, the size of the SCR map doesnt make any sense to have trains longer than 7 coaches running around. The map is simply not big enough to justify having longer trains at all. There are too many places where long trains can clog up the tracks and prevent anything from going thru. Secondly, they should have waited and wrapped this update with a free addition for all players. For example, maybe a Waterline or AirLink update of some sorts. Locking an update behind a paywall is utterly infuriating, especially for a game that has a young player base. For older players who have their own income, its more bearable, but after playing it for a while, it just was like driving any other train. I paid $10 USD to add 5 cars to my train. I understand that they need to pay their Developers, but i feel like its just a little steep. Third, theres no points advantage for driving the larger train. Maybe if they had extra points be awarded for driving these trains (i.e. +10 points for completing a stop without a guard instrad of the normal +5) I was talking with other players a few nights ago about it, and a lot them agreed that it felt like this update was thought out, but it didn't give anything for other players that dont have the capacity to buy the gamepass. Overall, i feel like this update was a misstep, the thought was there, the implementation was the main problem.

This game almost certainly going to die in a matter of months. They still made money from Point Purchases and VIP Servers, so I don’t think a Gamepass was necessary, perhaps most people are used to grinding points. The fact that you have to pay £10 for a Gamepass that gives you longer trains is horrific. What can you buy with £10 besides this Gamepass? Parents won’t be any happy about this. Lastly the community treatment, they’re angry and I understand them, supporting SCR until this moment for the past 7-8 years and this is how they were treated/rewarded, how insulting and dreadful.

I think that a lot of people have taken this as the game's directors essentially giving the community the finger. As I mentioned in the video and as you touch upon, a lot of people who buy the gamepass will be children using their parents' money - I can't help but feel a little bit like this is just a cash grab. you have to remember here that roblox takes 30% of all profit made off gamepasses, so just bare in mind here that scr only gets 700 robux per purchase, which is another huge contributing factor to the price, and makes the pricing seem a lot more reasonable. if scr priced it at 500 robux, they would only gain 350.

As hyped up as longer train consists were, you could still argue they're non-essential and dont need to be free. What can't be justified is the inclusion of the 390 in the past. The main reason I'd personally want to buy the pass is for the pendolino, but I'm forced to pay more for more content I don't necessarily want. And whether or not more content is added to this pass in the future, that still won't justify the fact that the 390 is locked behind a paywall because said additoonal content isn't even relevant to the 390. The argument of 'just dont buy it" is redundant when you actually consider the entire update hinges on this one single overpriced purhcsse. The 390 reslly didn't have to be inclided in the pass, but they took the extra liberty of doing so because of their greed.

I think SCR uses outside servers, and that may cost a lot, and they had to do something to combat the price tag, alongside with many other reasons you mentioned. But honestly, 1000 Robux for ONE new train and cosmetic features (longer consists) is absurd. It would be reasonable at 500 Robux or less. I also think the problem is with SCR’s points being too cheap, and too good of value for them to make much profit out of them. Speaking of profit though, SCR does make money off Premium payouts, etc, but overall, I’d say it may be in a small part, their fault for this, although I understand the purpose of the gamepass for money, and you’re not forced to buy it. Having the 390 let’s say a tad more than the 345, with the longer trains costing significantly less, would’ve had a better outcome.

In no way am I against SCR having gamepasses but 1000 robux is extortionate. Especially when BR does the same thing for free, the game is just becoming a lot less competitive. Sure they might add new trains to the gamepass in the future but it remains that £10 worth of robux is an abysmal price for such little content. My biggest problem with the update was that the gamepass doesn't give you every train straight away. Since I never bought the class 801 on express, I haven't got 4 of the new trains added that I PAID for. I'm not giving them any more money and I don't really want to grind for them. You should just have every train unlocked automatically.

The game has seemingly been in management disaster for years now all while the transport space on Roblox has developed past it. SCR in my opinion is no longer the cutting edge and them coming out with a thousand robux gamepass didn't help to dispell the thoughts that the SCR staff are in over their heads. I've distance myself from the roblox transport community and the fiasco from both the community and management have finally led me to abandon it all together. Now I play TSW because at least Dovetail has the common curtosey to announce and overpriced DLC before it releases. 😂 Gonna call it, the game was never the same after Charlie and Ban left.

Here’s all I gotta say I wasn’t expecting them to do a game pass. I’m gonna buy it but if it’s gonna be worth 1000 then I expect every train from now on even the updated revamp class to be added under this $1000 pack so people who have already bought it cannot be charged another pack because some airlink trains are added to this too, but we don’t get like the class 332 or the class 360s so they might be working on a revamp we don’t know

It's silly cause certain trains in the game are actually shorter than they are in real life like the class 444 yes they can be 5 coaches but normally on the swml there usually 10 coaches or 9 with a class 450 attached same said with 377

Its not a suprise here. Its captlsim. Once something is popular and they have people at the hook for makeing something that barely outbursts competition they will milk and milk the player base untill it collaspes which is what we see on modern roblox overall. Gone are the days of "quality over profit" or makeing something "with your heart" something good on modern roblox will always lead to commercialisation, explotation of game devs and their playerbase.

I'd say future updates will show the true nature of the SCR devs, whether they start making greedier and greedier updates or not, but I also know some people are huffing the SCR copium so hard, they'd still be in denial about said greed

So the game pass costs £10. That’s a lot but how much do the devs get from that? About £2.50 after all the Roblox cuts. Then splitting that between a lot of devs, that’s not a lot of money. The other reason it’s at that price is because they don’t want tons of people driving around in super long trains that are actually longer than some signal blocks. The fact that I’ve seen loads of longer trains in game already, imagine how many there would be if it was cheaper or free. I understand the directors reasoning behind the pay wall. I also understand why people are cross but tbh, the way people have behaved is so childish. I don’t think people realise either that they will add more to the game pass in the future. Anyway, that’s my views.

Draavo, the display you pointed out with the red LED's that doesn't change is accurate, I've been on a class 390 and from what I saw it didn't move, other than that the only things that were inaccurate is the horn and tilt

I know it’s expensive but.. the reason they probably put it up for 1K robux is because if they put it up for points then everyone would be driving them and there would be no point of Waterline Most of connect and most of Airlink because they dont have many coaches so then it would be no point in making Shorter trains because they wouldn’t get used if everyone had the long trains

I actually kinda agree. The gamepass was so overpriced, I thought this will be the same payment as the class 68, need a lot of points and need experience to claim it. I wish the gamepass costed 500 robux, SCR had made everyone complain when they launched verision 2.1. However, I have the gamepass in SCR. Is fun driving longer trains but for 1,000 robux? OF COURSE IS NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!

I get why the developers did make it a gamepass, and the time of year they released it etc, etc, however; it would of made more sense if they made the gamepass, like he said in the video, around the 250-400 robux area, I think personally it would of made more sense to make it 300 robux, yea sure I get that it’s still a gamepass, but it makes the price justify what you get in the actual pass, as for a bunch of longer trains and one new train, 1k robux doesn’t justify that price at all, I’d rather spend a tenner on some food thanks.

This is the trouble. As you say, people have already spent money buying the gamepass so removing it becomes a problem. They would need to compensate everyone who bought it in some way, but I don’t see that going down very well as a lot of people have bought the gamepass because of the 390. I think if the 390 was made to be purchasable with points, people would also kick off as my understanding is that a lot of people bought the gamepass for the 390. They’ve put themselves in a tough situation.

@ good point, someone in a public server also mentioned that a supervisor told them the price is not getting changed. i think the only way this will settle is with time, as the devs may add more trains to the pass so its more content for your money, making the 1000 robux asking price more worth it. the devs could add a double consist or two for in game currency. for now though, the damage has been done, it doesnt seem much like the devs can do anything about it straight away.

No need for speculation on why they released the gamepass when they did as it's very business orientated, kids will be getting gifts like Robux and money which any business and or company would obviously release new stuff to temp it's younger customers who have no understanding of the concept of a price tag and will just buy it because they love the game, you can't be angry at them because this is how a business works if you don't like it don't buy it and if you really don't like it I'm sure the complaints box with cobwebs will get your point through to the developers who just wanna make money.

I appreciate what you are saying, but as I said in the video, I totally understand and have no issue with their timing of it. As you say, it's a business and releasing it on Christmas is simply a business decision. It's just that what you're getting doesn't seem worth what you're paying. There's the promise of more being added in the future, but I don't think people should buy something based on the promise of what it may become if it's priced as high as the finished product.
