I'm really impressed by Oda. The man has been writing One Piece for over 20 years. Not only did he manage to put out hundreds of chapter, going on a thousand soon, he remains to add such a level of unique detail to the characters and the world they inhabit. It's incredible that he hasn't been burned out yet.

He actually was some time ago and has lowered the pace of dishing out chapters since then. I'm not sure how much he changed his work plan but I am super happy he did that. The guy slept 4h and worked 6-7 days a week away from his family, going on without vacation for years. No matter how much you love your work or your fans, that shit was unhealthy.

@@ambzaniidk i think the story is amazing. Despite how long it's still remains consistent. It has gone beyond the depts of "I wanna punch this guy in the face or "I gotta stop this bad guy". It gone beyond the depths of Good vs Evil. But rather Morals vs Beliefs vs Ideals. It tells a story of why people fight and why they have the will to keep moving forward. And isn't always about the fighting. That's why I love one piece. It shows all point of views from each sides

I’m going to be honest, one piece isn’t one of my favorites or anything, but at the same time, I have an insane amount of respect for Oda and his work ethic. I don’t know if the guy just loves his job or isn’t ready to give up his spot as one of the top shounen mangakas or what, but being able to stick to the same set of characters for around 20 years takes dedication. As I read the comics, I don't even think of the drawings. In the back of my mind, I kind of disregard the level of detail the drawings take. Rarely do I catch myself consciously thinking of the work put on not only the characters' drawings but the story of dozens of them. Then I watch this video and it just blows my mind. One piece has truly captivated me in ways that I sadly, cannot talk to a lot of people around me, because of the stigma, manga and anime have, but I don't care. Thank you Oda

This legendary man honestly has done more work then everyone I’ve known for the entirety of my life so far. I love One Piece and nothing for as long as I live will ever beat it. I sincerely wish that the art that is One Piece ends as gracefully as the story began, and happened. I also hope that our boy Togashi has a change of heart and hires people to help him with HunterXHunter. I love both shows so much and it pains me that I can’t explore more of HunterXHunters world. I wish the best for both Oda and Togashi.

I’m the opposite 😅 I can only do well primarily with my own characters but with other characters I tend to struggle seeing as it’s isn’t of my own creation, and although I am merely drawing them for myself, I feel an insane amount of pressure to get it right, and am never satisfied with the result :’

@@OneDrinight Wow, for me I feel the same but the opposite again. I have a certain standard in drawing because I can draw other characters so much better than my own creations, and I think its because I am too much of a perfectionist. Making it hard to see one of my own drawings compared to one I copy as it is so much better in quality and to the standard that I like. I am now starting to get more confident in my own drawings, but still need a lot of references from other things.

Rouxan Le Roux Chevalier Ahh, I see! As for me, I can pretty much say I absolutely agree and relate to you in that regard. My own profile picture here is of my original character’s digital sketch from several months ago, and though I have further progressed since, I find myself unwilling to change it. 🌚 However, I’m glad to hear your confidence in your original drawings has grown, it seems to have been a very long-term and deserved effort. :’) Art can come in its many forms, and it once again fascinates me to hear about how practically have the very same problem but on very opposite ends. I wish you all the best in the future with them 😁👍

I've seen this video in a lot of places but everyone cuts the part where he mostly erases his rough sketch and cleans it up. I started drawing after watching this, and that one trick is the most important thing I've learned so far. Granted, I erase and clean up 3 to 5 times before inking whereas Oda only needs to clean it up once before inking. Anyways, just thought I'd point that part out for anyone who wants to improve their drawing.

FUCK NAH! y’all didn’t dig my comment I said it’s better he works and tries and finish this manga in about 3 more arcs than drag it out for another 5-6 arcs lol with one piece pace the way it’s going this shit isn’t finishing in like 10 years
