Draconia: What the Game Has, and What it has Planned

Just sharing what I know about Draconia to help you decide if it is right for you. Everyone is a little different and may have different reasons to support the game or not. I also add my own speculation and hopes. What the game has now, and what is coming. I offer some reasons to support the game, though I will admit it is still pretty bare bones.
I hope they get some quests and danger added soon, (it is on the roadmap) though I do understand the remodels are absolutely essential before they can really progress.
Draconia is supported by a very small dev team, and I admire the work they have and continue to put into it.

A slow and steady development process for this game. The art direction is awe-inspiring, though it does feel that strong visual presentation is taking priority over the mechanics of the game itself. Which does test some patience for the consumer looking at the game it's early stages. Hopefully the developers can pull through with laying a solid foundation. Typically content doesn't quite pour into the bowl until the later stages of development when the tools and workflow are established to populate the play space with fun stuff.

From what I understand the Devs (which is like 7 people) first want to implement the dragons and enemies first and then the mechanics

I'm so excited to see how some of the new mechanics are implemented. The "dragon uber" is an awesome idea, they just have a lil work to do left. But the devs are super active and are always ready to answer peoples' questions. Seeing the ai creature tests was super fascinating and I can't wait for them to be put in the game

Even in prealpha there's a lot to do. Or at least the community helps keep it active. I got invited to a newb clan to learn the basics

Im the same with you. Ever since getting burned by DoD im very weary to back another dragon game but dragconia seems like a good one but i rather wait until much more progress on the game is presented before tossing money at it

only issue I have with the Quetzalcoatl, is that that isn't an animal species name, it's like calling the dragon species Loki. Should just be a feathered serpent. Tecatl is a weird word to go with as well, but it's less outlandish. it just means "inhabitant" though more specifically to a city or town ending in -tlan I think. so kind of like calling it "Native"

I see what you're saying. Like you said, naming a whole dragon species Thor, Loki, or something like that would sound a bit off. For myself I always think of a Quetz as a species, and the name stems from Quetzalcoatl, which is a god essentially, and not a species of feathered dragons. Some food for thought, for sure.

I'd argue it's more like naming an entire species sleipnir or jormungandar. A bit less weird than humanoid names.

I have high hopes for this game. I really missed good dragon MMO, and then Draconia and DoD emerged. DoD is more like VR Chat, sitting and doing like.. nothing? And there is Draconia.. developing slowly but surely, and I think it may be it. At least I hope so.

The game is definitely promising and has high potential. But development is just very slow, and perhaps in even too early of a stage to even be Early Access on steam. While I look forward to checking in on the development of the game from time to time, I don't expect anything major for many years to come. I think once the game's PvP/PvE/PvPvE as well as quest systems are more fleshed out and stabilized, the game may see some more growth.

I agree with you, I can't say it has much gameplay features, but it is interesting (for me at least) to keep track of changes and see what's going on as the team moves ahead.

Will There be PvP? Thats like a big aspect for me to have fights against other dragons too

Yes they do plan on having PvP servers and the option to toggle PvP and PvE

I really think they should pivot to focus on gameplay over anything else at the moment. As it stands, the game is already beautiful, but they need to give us something to do!
