This is a melodic death DOOM metal band from Sweden. You mentioned multiple times the “Black Sabbath” feel, that’s why. This is a doom metal band, but one that is also beautiful sounding in their cord structures and harmonics while very thought provoking lyrics. And the woman vocals is a long standing vocalist of this band. If you want chills with her voice, I would suggest listening to Rivers Between Us and also Sleepwalkers. 🤘🏻 These guys and Swallow The Sun are in my opinion the absolute top tier grade of melodic doom metal currently out there.

I'd definitely recommend The Sethian, Sleepwalkers, Stellar Tombs. Those are all beautiful songs. They're an amazing band with a wonderful atmosphere!

The whole album in which this song is from is about gnosticism. Sabaoth (in gnosticism) is basically the son and god of Ialdabaoth another god which eventually dethrones his father . It's an interesting album. There's a lot more songs that Draconian has written that are just the female vocalist's lyrics and mixed with harsh and clean. I think you're going to love hearing more of this band. 😊 Also when he screams "Only Deeeeeath!" I felt that. 😆

I'm more of a Deathcore and Melo-Death guy but Melodic Doom music like Draconian and Swallow The Sun is great to listen to when I'm depressed or just tired of everything. It just has a soothing effect and tranquilizes my soul.

Awe man. This album was my favorite of that year and I've wanted you guys to check it out for ages. But this is just not a good standalone track compared to i.e. Sleepwalkers, The Sethian or Sorrow of Sophia. You get next to none of Heike's incredible singing voice in this song. This song makes sense in the context of the album but not by itself. Please don't let this be the last song you check out from this album 😅

Agreed. Heike has awesome clean vocals that just fit awesomely for the doom / goth metal genre. I'd highly recommend Stellar Tombs, Sleepwalkers, Rivers Between Us, and Pale Tortured Blue @ MS Connexion Complex, Mannheim 2019-01-25.

I'm a few months late to the party, but I'm so very glad you guys finally reacted to Draconian. These Swedish doom metal veterans are up there as one of my top 5 favorite bands, and Anders Jacobsson, harsh vocals, and Heike Langhans, clean vocals, are also up there for me as far as vocal duets go. Unfortunately, Heike has left the band, mutual decision, to pursue her own projects and to spend more time with family, but Lisa Johansson returns to the fold after a 10-year hiatus in her stead... and that is not a bad thing. EDIT: Just wanted to add that this 2020 album that "Moon Over Sabaoth" is off of, 'Under a Godless Veil,' is the band's most recent work, and it is a wonderfully dark, seductively melodic journey from the first song "Sorrow of Sophia" to the tenth track "Ascend into Darkness."

The female vocalist is Heike who replaced Lisa in 2015. They've had female vocals, at least from their very first LP in 2002. They've molded their sound to Heike a lot. More atmospheric which I love. But classic Draconian is very much more death/doom with gothic influences. A great older song? Death Come Near Me. The most perfect beautiful Doom anthem haha.

I'm so glad you checked out this band. Doom metal gets very little coverage on reaction channels. It takes a lot more patience to get into than most, but, once you do, it's hard to go back. Their clean-singer (Heike Langhans) sings much more on their other material. Fun fact: When I was in School of Rock, my girlfriend and I did a duet of their song "Heavy Lies The Crown". She sang Heike's part, and I did the growls and played lead guitar. It's a favorite memory of mine.
