I think the old Urabrask would be really good in this deck. Haste enabling obviously is good, but making your opponents creatures enter tapped would also lead to a whole lot more damage happening from goaded creatures, due to lack of blockers!

I bought it a few months ago. I already removed all of the cards u suggested and also some others. I replaced them with a bunch more dragons, mana ramp, and a few cards that make casting dragons cheaper. It flows good and is very powerful now.

It's a terrible mechanic. Not only. Is it entirely useless once down to a 1v1, but it cancels itself out if multiple people use it. It's incredibly weak, poorly designed and the cards are over-priced (manawise) or under-stated. It should stop you from tapping the goaded target for a turn outside of combat

@@swaderable Huh, strange, you say all that, yet I still enjoy it and have gotten more compliments from people playing against my Karazikar deck than any other deck. I guess that means that some people prioritize the general fun factor of the table and all players more than just winning. It's a game, I'm playing it so that I and my opponents are having fun. I'm happy that you have fun playing the best possible cards and make optimal plays all the time to eliminate your opponents as fast as possible, I don't play cEDH so I'm not trying to combo off and win as early as possible. That's the beauty of EDH, people can play it a variety of ways.

the thing I like most about Firkraag is his 2nd ability that says whenever something that has to attack damage an opponent draw a card and pump him up. This makes me want to make a juggernaut and hellkite tribal deck and make sure Firkraag has to attack as well.

I made a goblin tribal with dragon support and it’s been amazing. It’s a lot of forced goblin attacks and unblock-able so Firkraag gets pumped up with my own creatures. And then I run some of the pillow fort effects and cards and it’s been great. Some win cons are descent of dragons, dragonshift, or voracious dragon. And then the main key is keeping Firkraag alive through hexproof or indestructible and he just gets huge. So there’s a lot of win cons and it’s been awesome. Edit: also because of the extra hexproof and shroud we also try to keep Krenko the mob boss alive and with both goblin assault and raid bombardment so we try to just got extra wide with a ton of goblins and then dragons to come in later. It’s been so fun!

Yes, but that still requires you to have both on board at the same time. I agree with them. Unless it’s your commander, baeloth and clan crafter dont belong in this deck.

I think some cards that force the Firkraag player's creatures to attack are also important as they trigger Firkraag too, which is why I think Rowan makes some sense in the deck - if you end up in a 1v1 situation, you can target yourself to trigger forced attacks (next turn though), which will trigger Firkraag and make it big. There's other effects that do similar in the deck, but I'd probably leave her in for consistency. Personally, I'd also add goblin assault for this deck to trigger lots of forced attacks and it's hard for opponents to block it if they're forced to attack instead of blocking. I also think equipment like lightning greaves or swiftfoot boots are important for a deck like this so that Firkraag doesn't get zapped and reset back to a 3/3 - if he sticks around to get big, you can win off commander damage

I havent played much with this deck as designed, but I took Baeloth and ran him with the background that makes your commander a 10/10 and welp, if no one counters it, I have free real estate.

I did exactly the same thing - I loved the control element on the precon but found the goad mechanic was a bit clunky so took out all the red goad cards and then build a red/green baeloth/raised by giants deck.. absolutely monstrous when it gets going

Nice Upgrade guide! I already bought the Deck but couldn't test it yet. Want to play some games to get an idea how the Deck works. But already have some options to Upgrade. I'll try as a side Option artifacts and win with the Tyrannt hellkite. And just for fun a blade of selves for more attack triggers. I am really hyped to play the Deck

I honestly think that in terms of Goading, the backup cmdrs are better because you don't need much additional synergy and tactics to force combat. He just sits there without needing to do any additional work and does what the deck wants as long as he's big enough (which shouldn't be hard).

i would 100% leave the impetus' in. Just slap them on your own firkraag, and his second ability triggers of himself, you get the boost of scrying or treasures, and firkraag is bigger and harder to remove. Win win win

At the end I followed a different approach with Firkraag as commander. The intention is to keep the main idea of goading opponent's créatures but also with the Aura Curses decieve them

Baeloth as the commander does look underwhelming at first, but sacking his own treasures to Clan Crafter could make him quite problematic if left unchecked for a turn cycle or two

Domineering Will is such a brutal card. I play it offensively. I steal 3 biggest creatures during my turn and attack with them. I basically use it as mob rule and such. Or am I missing something? Does something prevent such offensive use?

Sorry, yes you are missing something. Almost all Act of Treason type spells like this, if you read carefully, add that the treasonous creature also gains Haste. This is important, as any creature on your board that didn't start there at the beginning of your turn has Summoning Sickness. Domineering Will can not steal creatures to attack with, it is purely for blocking here or there.

I thought that if a creature has been on the bf for more than a rotation and didn't change zones, it no longer has the summoning sickness. But the rule 302.6 says '...A creature can't attack unless it has been under its controller's control continuously since their most recent turn began. This rule is informally called the "summoning sickness" rule.' So my question is. Can Domineering Will be cast 'at the beginning of the most recent turn?'

No, unfortunately. Again, this card only works for setting up blockers, or, I guess Sacrifice Fodder or some other shenanigans. 'At the beginning of the most recent turn' would be "Before" the Untap step, and players are not given Priority to cast or activate anything until the Beginning of Upkeep, after, of course, all triggers are placed onto the stack. Also, Santiago, just read the reminder text on any creature that has Haste. (This creature can attack and tap as soon as it comes under your control.)

I’d put in war cadence. 2R enchantment pay XR it costs X mana to block per creature this turn. Even just X=1 would matter and the cards under a dollar.

In case you missed my comment from the last precon upgrade you did, the recent average reprint value isn't $80 anymore. From the numbers displayed on the screen, the average is now ~$95, so this deck is slightly above average value, but not as much as it sounds from your commentary. Easy thing to miss because this number's always changing :)

I don't think going for the dragon tribal side is the right choice. For my version I decided to go full on goad and it worked very well. Also a mention for the card Curse of the nightly hunt. What makes Firkrag powerful is when you goad multiple creatures at a time and this curse do exactly that.

Imma be real with you, I'm not sure making a mediocre dragon deck is the way to go here. You basically only need them for the goad (and damage I guess, but all creatures can do damage), so why not cut out the middle man and go for the goad and goad-like effects right away? The dragons also don't scale too well with the commander, since you can't goad more than 3 creatures no matter how many dragons you got. That being said, I haven't played with the deck just yet and Hunted Dragon is a really good idea, so we'll see how it goes.

Funny how much Curse of Opulence has gained popularity in recent years. (I hate to be that guy, but I have to....) I remember thinking it was really good when it came out and everyone was poopooing this card because it gave your opponents gold as well and "save it for a curse deck" and now people are catching on lol I remember I tried selling some extra copies I had to my LGS and they wouldn't even buy it because they had so many already and it was super cheap.

I think the new Komainu Battle Armor is really cool in this deck: you just equip it to a dragon a goad each creature a player controls each turn! I also love Sarkhan the Masterless: he protects you by saying to people basically "every creature that attacks me take 4 to 5 damage", he protects himself by transforming into a dragon, goading creatures that way and he creates more dragons! Manaform Hellkite is good too, I think: it's four mana, so it's a perfect dragon to play before firkraag, and every time you cast a mana rock, or any other noncreature spell, it gives you a dragon with haste to goad another creature! Anyway, it's great to get some advice on an exciting deck, which I think of as the Korvold of goad (you know, a 5 mana dragon with flying which get counters and draw cards while you're doing what the deck is designed to do)! Great Job!

Hey guys, I'd like to suggest a challenge for an episode of Game Knights. Everyone is only allowed to use cards that came in Precons. There are people like me who get their cards mainly from preconstructed decks. So It would be cool to see something like this done. I would like to set a few rules. You can only use precons starting from 2018 and on ward. (Avoiding several really good commanders.) Even though I say "Precons" I don't just mean commander precons. Any premade deck that was sold from 2018 to the present is open. You can't use a commander that has already been used on Game Knights or Extra Turns. Basically all cover commanders cannot be used except for those which were never used in either Game Knights or Extra Turns. (I.e Sevinne, Jirina, etc) None of the cards you use can be a special card meaning that it was reprinted and has a unique design, this includes lands too.

I don't think Gblin Spymaster is a good card in this deck. If you oblige opponents to attack and you have no way to protect yourself, they obviously will attack YOU. The Beaty about goad mechanics is that it prevents that from happening while still oblige your opponents monsters to attack someonelse.
