@@silentjudging2979 I think we can all agree that Isaac was less than human during his introduction and up until the final episode when he decided to be the change in the world instead of trying to change the world. Isaac was physically human but he had just as much hatred and indifference towards humanity as any other vampire. Dracula didn't spare him, Isaac wasn't even a target. As a matter of fact Dracula basically said "I'm killing all of humanity, see you around Broski" and Isaac said "I honestly could not find a single reason to disagree with this plan"

@@TheAnimaAnimal it's old but that trope wasn't the main focus, the main trope of castlevania is "humanity is a plague on earth that must be eradicated for their ignorance", which itself is also an overly used trope. The story of Dracula tho is kinda straight forward, you can only change so much before it's not Dracula anymore. Basically meaning you can't tell Dracula's story w/o including at least 1 of the tropes the story itself popularized. Dracula came out in 1897, I'd say it's older than most tropes

@Michael Hayes Actually, it's left up to interpretation regarding whether or not Isaac was ever a target but most lean towards the yes spectrum. If you recall his talk with the Captain, he himself very much assumed that he was part of the metaphorical pig pen. He simply didn't care because in his eyes, humanity on a grand scale (himself included) wasn't really worth it. He considered himself disposable for the greater good I can't say with absolute certainty that Dracula would have let Hector live had their goals been achieved and even Hector himself doubted as much prior to his loyalty beginning to waver in favor of Carmilla.

If you watched the show you must have seen how the court reacted to him keeping a human wife. They thought she was his pet or plaything or she would be turned soon. The second villain in my life I was able to genuinely understand and relate too. The first being magneto, you understand perfectly why he hates humans for murdering his people and taking away his family all while pretending for years that mutants are the bad guys. Then you have this Dracula who has no one while being the strongest thing alive. When he finally has someone who loves him he begins to change for the better only to have people rip that away from him again. I’d probably kill everything too but I’m not actually hateful either so his suicide made sense. The ending was great and I wonder what role he will play in the new series possibly alongside Alucard.

Only an amazing show could have a Vampire with righteous cause to destroy, a forgotten relic of a hunter whose whole existence is to hunt said vampires; also team up with Draculas son. And have them both hate the ones who did this to his wife, but also justify them fighting to the death. So many moving story pieces and it all fits together perfectly.

I always say to this day that there is only so much a man can take before he snaps. Vlad was willing to walk as a man in respect to his wife and try to find some good in the world. Then he comes home to his house burnt down and his wife taken. Then when the lady said that she would be dead by now that is what is set Vlad off. That warning to her from Vlad was the last bit of humanity leaving him. Then to hear that his wife was burned to ash for learning medicine and even while being burned she was screaming to Vlad to not to hurt them, Wallachia celebrated her death. Honestly I don't blame Vlad in the slightest, except I wouldn't want peace, I wouldn't want Wallachia to have a year to repent for what they did. If I was Vlad, i would go to the city myself, army or not, and go door to door and slaughter anyone I saw without mercy. All I saw in Vlad after he returned home was a broken man and I don't blame him for doing what he did

You guys are saying he did this out of respect for Lisa, for he didn’t care. I whole heartedly disagree, time and time again we proven that Dracula is a loving, caring man who just fell into isolation. He’s the strongest being on earth and he took the time to paint his sons room and make him cuddly toys. He not only loves his son because he loves his wife, he loves them both with everything he has. He’s not just upset that his wife is dead, he hurts that he hurt his son, he was broken to the point of allowing himself to be killed because he truly saw how much harm he put to those he loved. Saying that, Lisa even says “he’s made progress”. He comes to the most heartbreaking moment of his life, his wife is dead, and an old lady is bringing flowers in her memory, she says she was a good person and condemns the actions, and speaks the Dracula clearly and without fear to begin, only knowing him as someone who cared for Lisa too. He may have put up a front, he may have been beyond furious, but he saves her his wrath AND her family. And I think he did it because he saw someone else who cared for Lisa. And in that moment, felt some kind of connection to her at the very least. Dracula isn’t a heartless being with a human who happens to be his heart. She just happens to be the first person to have warmed it back up with her love. And to further belabour my point, Trevor AGREES WITH HIM. Trevor and Dracula start off in the same place- “humans did an evil to my family, why bother caring, no one stood for mine why stand for them”. Trevor doesn’t disagree with Dracula he GETS IT. But where as Trevor has people help him get back to where he started “fuck it, it’s my duty” Dracula didn’t have that. And we see that Trevor is capable of loving humans and saving those that show him kindness even when he’s at his lowest. And this is Dracula at his lowest. Trevor stops the fake priests from killing the speaker because of his sense of empathy, despite him being in the depths of depression, just as Dracula saves the old woman despite just been given the worst news he ever received.
