Happy Halloween! Searching for Dracula in Transylvania was lots of fun - but Transylvania is so much more than the legend. Thanks to @wadesellers and @peterpantraveler for some great times! 🧛♂️ 🍁

Castle Peles is the first castle ever to have had electricity and a " central vacuumcleaner". When u visit the castle u could also visit the rooms wich arent open to the public because king Mihai I was living there untill his death in 2017. We did pay the extra fee and we got to meet Mihai I. He has been living in Belgium/ Switzerland after he fled for the Ceacescu-regime who forced him to abdicate and run from Romania while they were pointing a gun at him. Mihai I Was also the one and only king who arrested a Hitler- puppet after the second world war.. He was 23 years old at that time !!

Vlad II Dracul, the father of Vlad III Dracul (Țepeș) was the founder of the Drăculeşti dynasty, which lasted until the 17th century. The surname "Țepeș" is actually a nickname (given by the Turks) given to Vlad III Dracul(a) as a result of the method of stabbing used by him. This nickname, it is associated with Vlad after his death, has remained in use to this day.

Draculesti was a branch family of the Basarab House not a dynasty.it was engaged in a bitter fight with another branch family the Daneşti for most of the 15th century.the founders of the 2 branches were Vlad Dracul, Draculas father, and Dan , both sons of Mircea the Elder

So... how was Romania? Whould you go there one more time?
@EmmaOfer4 жыл бұрын
It was amazing! We’d absolutely go again and check out some of the (many) places we didn’t get a chance to visit the first time. Bucharest is cool but def set aside enough time to see some of the towns in Transylvania!

Kinda busy for ur taste? What are u? A minimalist? It's a king's castle ,dude...

@Stanciu Bogdan: De gustibus... Not everyone likes it. Queen Maria of Romania, for instance, hated it, that's why she had the Pelisor Palace built nearby. She wrote in her memoirs about Peles that it was built "in that hideous German baroque style" and found it very opressing.
@sterianburghelea65674 жыл бұрын
@@DukeOfTheYard I don't think that the castle was much of a problem, but her relationship with the king and the queen. I think that she wanted her own place and she had to say that she didn't like it. Personally, I don't think that Prosper castle looks better than Peles.
@DukeOfTheYard4 жыл бұрын
@@sterianburghelea6567 I don't much like Pelisor, but - apart from Maria's relationship with the king - I can understand why she wouldn't like Peles. It is the complete opposite of her personality and style. And I know several people who find Peles bleak and oppressive, so it's entirely possible that she would have thought so too.

Actually, it's how I felt too the first time I visited it, and I am not a minimalist. I think the problem for me is that the wood is dark and feels heavy in the smaller rooms.
