Thank you Khaled. Regarding the renal veins, the right renal vein is shorter because it doesn't cross the midline (aorta). The left renal vein is longer because it crosses the midline.

Durng operation you should know which organ is adhenerent to the kidney (like the suprarenal gland or the body of the pancreas) and which organs are separated by peritoneum.

I have a question Doc. In your video on the openings of the diaphragm you said that the aorta opens in the midline but now in this lecture you are saying that the right renal artery is longer as it crosses the midline meaning that the aorta is on the left of the midline..please clarify this point.

@ The aortic opening in the diaphragm is at the level of T12 in the midline. @ The origin of the renal artery is at the level of L2 little to the left of the midline. @ The right renal artery crosses behind the inferior vena cava.
