As a rock climber myself, I can tell that the devs really know about rock climbing. One particulat detail really shows it, at 6:16 when you take a rest, you can see your character shaking is right arm and thats exactly what rock climbers do to get rid of the ''pump'' in our forearms. I tough that detail was really awesome !

A carabiner is a metal link with a clip and a part that screws over the clip to keep it secure. They are also known as D-rings.

Yeah they're those lil clips you commonly see with the warning "not suitable for climbing," those ones are just for like keyrings or whatever. The climbing ones are bulkier and have that little screw part you mentioned.

Also I love how like i you use a certain amount of energy without resting you lose a bit of max stam till your on ground again.
