I bought the 2016 X5M right around the time this video came out and I think the same as you. yes the new one beat the old one but you would never be able to notice that little bit of difference in performance unless they were next to each other. mine launches pretty hard and if that weren't enough I could just tune it. now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying all that because Im hating on the new one or because I can't afford it lol but you just get a lot more for your money with the F85. with that being said. the new one is gorgeous and one day I'll buy that one too when it 50% off lol

Finally the video comparison review I was after. Great video, has helped me in thinking about should I upgrade my F85 to F95 and the answer now is stick with my 2018 F85. There is more theatre in the car. Yes it is slower, but not by much and its more practical and enjoyable to drive. Thank you Joe Achilles. Great video.

dont let this bias video fool you. The F95 is way faster than the F85. The F95 was not in full sport mode which makes a huge difference. The F95 is a so much better truck its not even close.

Well remap the G05 X5M comp and you can get it up to 800-850 hp on that alone. The F85 one taps out at around 700 hp on a remap alone.

To me, I've always been a fan of the F15 BMW X5, and most certainly the F85 X5 M. I think it has aged very well, both inside and out. It still looks very modern, and it proves that you don't need the most technological cabin to have a great interior. I think the interior and exterior are modern enough to where it'll age very well. I also think it looks a lot better than the current one tbh. But one thing you can't deny is the power of both with that lethal 4.4L twin turbo V8 engine.

On a drive-by, the new X5M just sounds so much angrier/meaner than the old X5M. Good comparison. Though Joe, you were a bit asleep off the line a few times, but it didn't really matter since the new X5M has a lot more power. Having had an X5M the same as Chris’s but a 2017 model, and now in an X3M Comp I can tell you those pops and bangs in that X5M he has entertained me every day. On the way home from work I had one piece of road I loved every day. An amazing car snd I regret selling it. Though you need a test between the X3M Comp and the new X5M Comp, the X3M is faster for sure than both my old F10 M5 and the old X5M.

Both engines are underrated by BMW. The 2016 F85 X5M is around 600 hp and the 2021 G05 X5M Comp is around 700 hp, so about a 100 plus hp difference.

You can thank your countries noise law for the quieter exhaust on the new X5M. It wasn't in place a few years ago. Plus the old X5M exhaust is no doubt worn out a bit. Also Joe, since you're older, you were a bit slow on applying the brakes for the braking test. But it was a great video and there is nothing wrong with the older F85. You do realize that the F85 has piped in intake and exhaust noise also. Many F85 reviews said that even with the rear air suspension, the vehicle rides to firm.

In all honesty, I prefer the looks of the F85 more than the G05. Not saying i don't like nor that I wouldn't get a G05 X5M, because I do. But ultimately I do like more the F85 in all aspects. Which also brings me to another point, that I rather increase the power on the F85 with a tune to be on par or better than the G05 comp.

I still have my 2005 BMW X5 4.8is. Love the exhaust start up sound. I was the 2nd owner when I bought it in 2012 with 55K mileage. I still have it with 216k mileage on it. I need to do a transmission fluid, filter, and solenoid change on it so it can run smooth again. I just bought the 2017 X5M at 59k mileage a couple weeks ago. Love it. I paid $38000 for my 2017 BMW X5M. $130k for the newest BMW X5M competition. If you going to race your X5M then spend that extra $90 if you got the money. Not me, the $38K for my F85 is quick and very fast enough for me to enjoy.

The X5M and X5M comp have the same exact size wheels, exhaust etc. Difference is a competition mode which gives 17hp more due to a timing tune when in that mode. Oh, and 9k more to have the comp package. I passed and have the X5M and it moves quickly, very quickly.

wrong, wrong wrong. The comp has 21's up front and 22's in the rear. All high gloss black elements, black chrome tailpipes, M sport seats, Merino leather and seat belts with M stripes. You just couldnt afford the comp package, I understand.
