I own a 2023 BRZ manual in WR Blue, from new. 2 years old and less then 7000kms. Love it. More room. Hard top. Looks great. Drive it lazy or drive it fast, great little car.

Those are really respectable results from the MX-5, for not being known as a straight line dragster I was surprised by those figures, I mean the weight helps but when people see on paper it only has a measly 135kW/205Nm from a NA 2.0L they won’t expect much. I mean those figures are on par with a 2.0T VW Golf mk5 GTI.

I don't think a stock VW Golf mk5 GTI would get anywhere near 6.2s? Lucky to break 7s. Even a GTI mk7 only gets mid 6s at best.

you can achive mid 6s on a good surface with the DSG.

Entertaining comparison!. BUT if you want unquestionably the best bang for buck go with the BRZ FA24 and add a Harrop Supercharger. With about 300hp at the wheels it unleashes the beast within allows the dynamic platform to shine. Best car-world investment I've made...

One thing I realised about the BRZ after all this time is that it doesn't hook up quite as well as the MX-5 when getting off the line, not sure if it's an effect of the BRZ's more front biased weight distribution when compared to the MX-5's.

Thanks for your review and information Thank you very much for listening to the comments and retesting. ❤👊 The MX5 Just needs suspension upgrades for example Eibach Pro-kit Springs and sway bars. For A little money, a huge improvement!

Mx-5 soft top for the weekends in the winding roads in healesville/high country Victoria area. Id live to modify it with a BBR supercharger and suspension kit that ive seen reviewed by Hagerty on KZbin.

I like both but for 10k less I'd take a Hyundai i20N. Already owning one though I am a bit biased :) All 3 have a manual gearbox and are fun and engaging to drive. I love this style of review thank you.

Incredibly slow time in the BRZ. My 2022 when stock would do 14.0 according to my dragy. After a couple exhaust mods and a tune it is down to 13.3

@@boost331 why did you dyno hp and trq? on what brand dynometer?

@tone3560 Car hasn't been on a dyno. Tuning was done remotely by doing data logs and sharing files with the tuner. Dyno numbers vary so much and are so subjective that I have zero interest in paying to get it done. Performance numbers dont lie though.

@@boost331 tuning remotely vs taking it to a dyno and have it tested. I wonder if it is essentially the same in cost? I wouldnt do e85 on mine. I would rather stay pump not worth the hassle for another 10hp+

Jeez MX-5s have got faster, my NA would never do 0-100 in 6 seconds haha

I had both ❤ and always ended driving the BRZ 😊 the novelty of the mx-5 2 seat softie and no space to carry anything more than a back pack runs out😂 after the a while. Something that the BRZ offers that a lot of people overlook is the incredible practical space it has for a small sports car, and if your in the wet weather the sof top is unbearable to drive with all the noise inside the car and the wind, makes the car feel unsafe and dangerous on the highway (it’s not - it’s how you feel in it) Cheers from Oz🇦🇺

I've got both. They are totally different cars, but both are excellent. You need to have a good long drive of them before you make a decision. If I could only have one, I would choose the BRZ but only because it's a bit more practical.

99% of these cars won't ever see the track so in my opinion I don't think a strong 100-200 time really matters though.
