Thanks for posting. I always enjoy your comparisons like this. However, it seems to me like there might be something wrong with that triton or the weather with horribly hot on whatever day you did the test as having driven. Both the Triton is comfortably faster. Anyway, thanks again and keep up the great channel

@@HolyGrail98 Watching the speedo is not the same as actual GPS-based timing with the Vbox. Sport mode doesn't unlock more power. I have seen results like this quite a bit with diesels. Sport modes end up over-revving the engine, thus making it slightly slower. For diesels that is. And not always - about 30% of the ones I've tested.

Thanks again DE - At last an honest opinion on towing 3.5 tonnes with a Ute or SUV as towing something heavier that your vehicle is absolutely moronic - the industry statement of 3.5 tonne towing capacity is an outright lie - a NSW driver was sentenced for six years after his wife and another family member were killed travelling downhill towards Port MacQuarie NSW - the overloaded Prado was apparently overtaken by an equally overload caravan it was towing (moving to new home) and crashed into a tree and ditch at speed - I’ve owned 12 Subarus and now drive an equally reliable Toyota Hilux - the Triton was my second choice but prefer the larger 3 litre engine for towing/touring/farm duties - an SA driver and his wife had to fly back from QLD/NSW when their new Triton’s engine broke while towing just a small 2.5 tonne caravan (possible ECU remap to increase power) - eventually they replaced the engine at great cost.

@drivingenthusiastaustraliaАй бұрын
@@929cosmodude Yeah that's not the majority of sales. Take out all fleet buyers and ute figures wouldn’t be as large. It will be interesting to see how it goes anyway. Just for example on what I meant: A guy comes and washes our dog every 6 weeks or something. He has a Triton and a trailer with a dog bath thing in it and uses our power every time. I've asked him about PHEVs and the ability to plug in V2L. He said something along the lines of; 'Why would I use my own power? I would have to increase my invoice then because it would cost me more to run this business if I'm using my power.' He currently has a big extension cord and plugs into customer garages etc. I think having the power outlet is definitely a handy thing, especially for camping and so on. But I don't think it will become a necessity thing that's all I mean. Definitely a great idea and doesn't hurt to have it. That's my opinion anyway. I understand if you don't agree.
@929cosmodudeАй бұрын
@drivingenthusiastaustralia it's not that I don't agree it's just that I'm surrounded by tradies every day, I think you might be a bit out of touch when it comes to that, put it this way, are electricians, refrigeration mechanics and plumbers that are using servicing buildings using tools that plug in on site, I can tell you no.. I have to charge alot of my batteries at night at home ready for the next day at work, it would be a massive benefit to me, also alot of tradies don't kick around in the dirt, they are servicing the massive amount of infrastructure that is already there, repairing and maintaining and replacing utilities that we all take for granted.. disconnect your electricity water and communications and see how dirty the boots are of the tradesman that comes are 👍 not having a go I think that you probably just don't see the trades side of things

@@drivingenthusiastaustralia and the rouge 48v is considered as a mild hybrid, in other countries that system adds a little bit of power and torque of 12-15 kw power, 60 nm of torque, also if you consider other variables like weather there were not tested at the same time and the same day which would make a slight difference, not much but if a race was close as these given the same circumstances results would have been different to, so better if we can see an actual race that would be great, a 2023 non-hybrid hilux rouge would be the better comparison as well.

I hope you do an actual drag race of these trucks, that is still the best way to compare them and see which one is better in a drag race, like you said although some elements would make a slight difference its still worth seeing what that difference would be should it had been done in a real world situation rather than a simulation.
@drivingenthusiastaustraliaАй бұрын
Yeah it would be good but insurance starts to become an issue when racing side by side. Also, the Vbox results are not simulation. It's a 20Hz GPS data logger 👍 In this case the weather conditions were warmer during the Triton test, which may have slowed it down slightly. Ideally it would be more accurate with the same weather. I will try harder to match conditions next time.
