This week, a feller from Vice Grip Garage hopped on a plane to Philly and hit the Stay Tuned shop where he, Tony Angelo, and the ST crew revived a 1967 Ford Fairlane drag car that hasn't moved in 40+ years! 4 long days of speed parts, pizza, cheesesteaks and laughs bring this car one step closer to hitting the strip again!

As mentioned its a 1967 Fairlane 500 and not a GT. When I was 16 I purchased a 2 year old 1967 Fairlane 500 with the standard 390-4 barrel rated at 315 HP and 4 speed. In stock trim they were capable of a 14 second 1/4 mi at around 90+mph. I remember the fun changing the spark plugs near the shock towers. Mine was red on red with a bench seat. Mine was different from other 67's as it had the radio antenna in the passenger side rear quarter panel. Thanks for bringing back some old but not forgotten memories.

Joe Taylor, I wonder why it had the antenna in a different spot 🤔 Unless it was an original radio-delete from Ford and the previous owner had one installed during his ownership. 🤷

@@StayTunedTA very cool stuff! i worked in a (wood) mill shop in western mass. that was originally a plant that built and tested periscopes for subs. they built it on a big chunk of bedrock so the testing equipment had a stable foundation and the place had a tower that i guess was for test assembly. built during the cold war. please to a history episode on your place!

I typically only comment in hopes of helping the algorithm to get your channels more views…but this video is “talking to me”. Can relate sooo much to the thrash…flywheel bolts too long and doing everything two (or three times) definitely more relateable than editing out all the “challenges” to sell the illusion that when you have been wrenching for so many years that everything goes together perfectly. I am loving this too much…Derekisms combined with Tonyisms is pure gold. A couple similar yet different approaches to thrashing… the bell housing/clutch didn’t even make the “cardboard hitlist” these are the surprises that add hours to a project and take years off of one’s life but BUILD CHARACTER ✊

What a great collaboration reassembling this project car of Derek's was, good stuff! A few years ago, I pulled an original 289/c4 combo out of a 66 fairlane 500. Would have taken the car too, but it looked to be a field bomber that somebody had a hard hit with a big tree. It was parked in the weeds for over 30 yrs and the Frame was tweeeked and pretty rotted. Almost got the 289 rebuilt will just need to find a fairlane some day soon.

Your Buick didn't come with a dent in the center of the dash, did it? My dad had a similar Buick. When I was 5(1957) and standing up in the back, someone pulled out in front of us and dad hit the brakes. The seat folded and I put 4 tooth marks in the dash along with a small dent. Never stood up in a car again while moving...

I cannot imagine what goes in to footage we never see… like the clay piston to valve clearance “double check” before pounding on the Ford. I love it!…and that driver seat position for Derrick the humongous is perfect!!
