Yeah, both the RS3 and the A45 are hovering around 1550 kg, give or take. The RS6 and E63 are around 2000 kg but those are two behemoths of a car. Surely it was just a mistake.

Pro drivers, some of the owners weren't even flooring it, I'm looking at you Focus RS MT, had way too many variables. In the end it was more of a drivers skills race than a proper car showdown.

I highly doubt any Focus RS can keep up with a car that can troll S3, especially from a dig. Saying that makes me feel like you have neither drive or sit in S3 or RS at all. I had a Focus RS then traded it for a Golf R, I can tell you they are dead close.

From a standing start my car can't get near either of them, it's RWD and half a tonne heavier, I'm not talking about launching. I've driven an S3 (one of the cars I test drove in January while shopping around) but not an RS, a friend owns one but I've never been in it. However, I have been at full throttle and not really created a gap to an RS, but multiple times an S3 has looked at my car, clearly thought it's slow and tried to blast past only to find themselves going backwards (including one guy who kept trying for about 25 miles). I own a GS450h, US specs say 5.2 to 60 and the euro is 65kg lighter with more power but EU regs mean it's 5.9 because empty battery performance...I suppose there's some logic to that. Launches like a paper bag full of jam, but from 30 it will comfortably drive past an S3. Of course it's possible the RS I saw was tuned, but my assumption is the GS isn't so fast an RS can't keep up, so I can only go on the evidence I've seen that the one time I got into a race with an RS it kept up while S3s just don't seem to. Point is, based on that evidence, it's surprising that the S3 smashed the RS in this video so comfortably...which suggests that the RS wasn't launched properly. I fully believe that in the real world an S3 would win usually as it's easy to launch, but the RS can't be THAT hard to get it right once on a track surely. Most comments here seem to agree with that sentiment, admittedly without writing an essay like I have...sorry.

Incredible video guys! Only a bit dissapointed not all cars were launched really properly, these weren't press cars of course so naturally you'd be more careful (especially the manuals). Would have loved to see time comparisons too (the road might have been too short for that to make sense though). This is an awesome format for car "challenges". I'd love to see different versions of this i.e. various types of cars, various tracks. People pick their teams and then put them in order without knowing the other teams order so you don't know who you're going against, like the Ryder Cup.

The S3 was likely DCT rather than a manual. I not lecturing, as I'm sure you're aware that in drag racing any form of auto is much more preferable over manual as you have more consistency on launch and the shifts will be faster. In this race it was the consistency of launch which made the difference for sure. The focus definitely bogged down on its launch, but they likely only did 1 pass because I assume they are trying to simulate a race from the lights.

@@4889591jh M140i hits 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds. Unless its very wet the audi s3 is not as fast off the line. There are a lot of videos on youtube. The in gear acceleration of an M140i is the same as the 4.2L RS4. Its fast.

As an owner of a 140i there’s a few things that need mentioning for me. Firstly the bmw comes into its own 30-90, like it’s genuinely unbelievable. Off the mark the 4wheel boys will obviously take off but in the mid range the 140 is ridiculously quick. Secondly is the handling, which is decent enough but once you start to really push it it’s not in the same class as some other cars, focus rs, rs3 etc. Lastly, and this is the big swing for me is the finance options. So I payed 3k down and £300 pm, which is just astonishing for a car like this. I’d say for this reason alone it’s the best hot hatch your getting in.

A burnout on an unprepared surface with street tires is a waste. All you do is ball up the rubber and make the launch tricky. And for an AWD car a burnout is completely unnecessary. The tires need to be slightly wet (not sitting in a water box) and they just need a quick scrub no more than 1 second to expose a new layer of rubber. No burn out needed.

Focus RS is so far behind on the Germans. Had 1 and it just isnt as fast everybody wants it to be. Handling, yes, superb, much better then all the other cars, accept maybe for the impreza, whats also an amazing car. But Just go fast, in a straight Line, BMW, Mercedes and Audi are Just way faster. I switch to an A45 AMG which is Just a way better car. I also drove An 140i but that also was not super fast and handling, like all BMW models from last years, is Just not as good anymore. BMW is loosing terrain on Mercedes and Audi fast. To bad. Always liked the M models, but there simply to far behind.
