Guy who owned both cars racing them on Nürburgring said that GT2 RS might have the quicker single lap time, but in a race over many laps, the GT3 takes it every time because- easier on the tyres, no turbo to overheat etc. It's a shame that a large amount of car culture gets reduced down to this American straight line stuff but, it's interesting all the time and great video.

Nice vid. Drove a GT4 at the Porsche Centre at Silverstone a few weeks back. Epic handling and 80mph in 2nd gear. I can only imagine how well the GT4RS goes especially with that JCR exhaust.

The JCR GT4 RS was rapid ! Without the exhaust I think it would have been closer.. I also wish I had played more with the diff settings etc on my GT3RS .. but on the day the GT4RS won fair and square.. it’s a great car.. thanks Johnny for letting me have a go too 🙌

Nah, the gt3rs has so much drag, it's obviously slower in a straight line but quicker around the track because of the formidable downforce

What is the primary difference between the GT2 RS and GT3 RS? I'm new to the Porsche fandom community. I thought the GT3 RS was the best of the best but this just proved my thoughts wrong!

The GT2RS is a turbo charged track weapon that is far more lairy and is monstrous in a straight line. This GT2RS is also the old model as they haven’t made a new comparable 992 GT2RS yet. When that arrives, not much will keep up with it in a straight line.

Ouch ! but I’ll take that !! It was my first drag race and first time using launch on the car.. I’m sure with a pro driver it would have been slightly closer.. but not enough to catch that GT4RS on the day.. it was pretty much same power as my car, lighter with a pro ex racing driver and better aero for drag racing.. my wing looks mega I think… but it’s for track downforce not drag racing !

It would be interesting to know on what tires the cars were running on. All in all there was very little tracktion, may be a 2nd run on a more dry and warm surface provides other results.

If the GT4RS was stock, do you think it would be closer with the GT3RS? Seems kind of odd that it's so much faster than the GT3RS, doesn't it? Although having said that, I was watching a track drive between a 992 GT3 and a GT4RS (both stock) and the GT4RS consistently pulled away from the GT3 on the straights.

Man, how'd you guys expect to have any chance against the GT2 RS? hahahaha it's just beastly, on another level! The GT2 RS is the proper 911 RS car, insane handling with insane power. The GT3 RS and GT4 RS are crazy cars no doubt but they have "only" around 500 hp which isn't enough by today's standards. Hope Porsche puts at least 600hp in the next GT3 RS version in some years...

Depends on the emissions regulations of that time, Porsche engineers have said that it’s no problem to get 600hp even from the N/A 4.0 - but they would need a less strict exhaust system and a bit higher rpm redline. But the regulations become harder every year and we should thank them a lot only for their efforts to keep n/a engines in the gt3 line nowadays

As a owner of a GT2RS and 992 GT3 MR, I’m not surprised. Love both cars but the GT3 hits around 150 mph in the same distance the 2RS hits 169 mph. That’s the acceleration difference. Braking is amazing in both cars, but slightly stronger in the 992 with the Manthey spec.
