After I completed another few runs on my new drag slicks, I decided to do a head to head comparison against my original drag radial setup. I wanted to provide you all a direct comparison, on the same day, in the same conditions, to see how much quicker or faster my new setup actually was. The results were surprising to say the least!
Thanks to @silent11n54 and @e82n54 for the additional video footage!!!

Yes sir. I've had a couple runs on the slicks that I thought may have been clutch slip but I think it was just tire spin.

What pressures do you run in front and back? And how do you dial it in according to track temperatures?
@VancityAudi
@VancityAudi Жыл бұрын
Sadly, my tire pressures are one of the few things I don't share. It takes me a very long time, and lots of trial and error getting it just right to allow for the most grip, yet the least amount of rolling resistance. I encourage analyzing your 60ft times and slo-mo videos of your launch.
@SRTst
@SRTst 3 жыл бұрын
I'm curious if you datalog your wheelspeed with Uni logger. Take a close look at the difference between slick vs drag radial. With that much tire/traction on slicks, I wonder if you would benefit from dialing back your haldex controller. Rely on front wheels a bit more with added traction. You seem to need some more wheel speed on launch with slicks.
@VancityAudi

I do log my wheelspeed on most runs. What you're talking about may help, but I don't think it would be enough

Regardless of what people tell you is going to work best, you can't argue with results. What works best for you is always best. Very cool to see all the testing back to back on different set ups. And it would be really cool to see you line up with a new Tesla Model S Plaid. Very similar 18th mile times, and frequently similar quarter times too (if they let the Plaid run that fast without cage/parachute at your track). Cheers!

Your slicks are too large for your car, get a set of 24.5inch slicks and you'll run better times. Slicks provide consistent traction if used properly
@VancityAudi
@VancityAudi 2 жыл бұрын
Just so you're aware 26" tall slicks/radials is what the standard high horsepower RS3's use. For my particular setup though I believe they were too tall and going back to a smaller tire is for sure the right direction for me.
@chaserevstuning9271
@chaserevstuning9271 2 жыл бұрын
@@VancityAudi yeah that's why I suggested the 24.5inch slick. It wpuld definitely be a better size slick than 26inch. Takes a lot power for 26.

@@VancityAudi so sport front wheel drive guys do that to get more contact patch because they don’t want to move up to a 26 inch tall tire and the rs3 is fwd biased so In theory would improve the 60’ times.

@@VancityAudi But you forgetting the dimeter of the Tires.. Rotational mass id very depending on the radios of the mass, that is why old flywheels are huge and have almos all the weight on the outside ring. Also i saw very very low tire pressure... did you trie higher pressures to lower the movement of the tire ? I have a question to you: Your Car is very very quick... how much power your engine make ? Best Greetings :-)
@VancityAudi
@VancityAudi 2 жыл бұрын
@@Hobby_Electric I'm not forgetting about the diameter of the tires. I am very aware that with a taller tire you are going to more than likely lose speed. I was attempting to gain better traction though with a softer sidewall, more flex and more grip off launch which would result in a better 60ft and pay off with a quicker ET in the full 1/4 mile. This is how much power the car made during those races: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5DKY2h4hq-bsKc
